Did anyone ever complete their RN-BSN through Kaplan University?

I'm against nursing classes online, especially Kaplan. I think that if you are going to choose a career like nursing, it should be in person with actual instructors. One would be hard pressed to find anything good about Kaplan on this site if they took 10 minutes to actually do a search on previous posts here. Didn't mean to offend, and didn't mean for someone to try to "delete" my post based on a opinion...not 100% why a premium member would want to delete my post based on my opinion.

Nobody can delete anyone's posts but their own. However, people disagree all the time, misinformed or not.

This is going to sound snarky, but I think you should be a nurse first before you have an opinion that online nursing classes are or are not sufficient. The OP is already an RN. She's already had the hands on "how to be a nurse" classes. She's advancing her degree. She's going to be primarily taking classes on nursing theory, management, and research to complete her BSN. How are these classes somehow magically better in a classroom setting?

As an RN who has a BA in another area and an ASN, finishing up the last four classes in a BSN curriculum, I do not see how an RN to BSN program is somehow insufficient or inferior when compared to a classroom based RN to BSN program.

I do agree with your sentiments regarding Kaplan; I think they are a degree mill more interested in money than education and they prey on people who want a college degree and who are willing to put themselves into huge amounts of debt to do so.

FYI, I think the "delete" post actually meant that someone posted a remark, then thought better of it and edited it out. Not that they were wanting to delete *your* post, but rather that they deleted *their own* post.

I decided against Kaplan,not worth the money I might try the college you are attending...

Look around a little, you have time. While Fort Hays certainly offers a decent program, and they've been doing this a while so they don't have a whole lot of kinks to work out, you may find something else that you like better.

From these boards, I've seen that Indiana State, University of Wyoming, and maybe Wisconsin (Wisconsin U? Wisconsin State? I don't know) also offer online RN to BSN programs at reasonable costs.

I don't know what state you're in, but you should also look around at the state universities with nursing programs. They may offer online RN to BSN nursing programs, at decent, in-state tuition rates.

Good luck. RN to BSN seems to me to be *mostly* busywork. Some of it I have found valuable, or I have at least seen the value in it, even if it's not applicable to my career or interesting to me. A lot seems very repetitive or entirely unnecessary. I'm a cynical old hag, though; you may not be quite as jaded as me.

i was not trying to delete your post. i deleted my reply regarding your comment because you are not even a nurse yet and giving us advice regarding our post rn licensure educational choices? very typical of some all-knowing pre-nursing/nurses wanna be students here!

there! that was my post that i deleted. i have nothing against nursing students opinions but come on think of it. she is an rn already trying to do an adn/asn to bsn program which happens to be online and you are saying that's not good for nurses and you are not even a nurse yourself??

sorry, didn't mean to pee in your cheerios. i don't think i'm all-knowing whatsoever. the minute you think that is the minute that the fun goes out of life. i just had an opinion that some classes should be taught in person, that's all. i'm "only" a nursing student so i don't claim to know anything of what it's like to be a nurse, and i congratulate anyone who completes their nursing course work.

you don't need to be so demeaning or trying to stereotype me into a typical "wanna be" nursing student. that's rude. sorry to offend you--at least i know what to expect if i ever want to make another post on here again. so much for expressing my opinion--obviously it isn't as worthy as yours since i'm not even a nurse myself. thanks for the self-esteem boost.

i wasn't trying to be rude but you judging my educational choices and putting it down when you don't even know what it entails is rude.

good luck to you and just one advice: being open minded is one quality that all nurses should have.

Wow, I'm very happy I came on here and looked. I was just speaking with one of the Kaplan representatives and she made things sound very promising. I had some doubts and was going to e-mail one of my past professors anyway. No way will I do this Kaplan program. I want to get my BSN to advance myself, it sounds like Kaplan is kind of an expensive dead end. Does anyone know of any online RN to BSN programs in the New York area other than Pace ($$$!!!)?
