I'm Apostolic and wear skirts all the time. It has never impeded my work in any way. As a previous poster mentioned, as long as the hemline and cut are appropriate, there is no interference. I find it a lot more appropriate than the number of young ladies I see at work with significant underwear (or lack thereof) showing each time they lean over.
  2. 3 week orientation, on my own for a month now. Yesterday was a relentlessly wild day. Gave my first IM under duress, a completely different thing than giving an injection the patient wants. But I did it. I know now I can do this, I was born to do this.
  3. Hang in there! I had a full-time tech job and a 3 year-old while I was studying. I had to be very efficient. None of these 8 hour-a-day study plans. I ended up using 3 different books (Saunders, Lippincott q&a, and exam cram). When I started studying, i took a calendar and wrote all the topics I needed to review on different days until the big day. Every day I would schedule an assignment of at least 50 questions from one of the books. Once a week I took a long (100 question) test. By using the different books I was really able to see different approaches to different topics and also get some understanding of what the hot topics are. Lets be honest, your kiddo is always going to come first. And money can be tight (believe me, I know). By studying just that little bit every day I ended up taking the exam and passing with 75 questions on the first try (in 30 minutes!). Something to be said for efficient studying.
  4. Also a May grad, I also had ********. I had her for lecture and clinical in 105, and lecture in 112. I loved her! She was so engaging in lecture and helped us find very good learning opportunities in clinical. I'll always fondly remember giving my first injection with her saying "give it! give it! give it!" over my shoulder
  5. I can tell you I've worked there for years, great place to work. Staff is great, work well as a team. Pay is competitive for the area. One adult unit, the rest kids and teens. I recommend it to anyone who wants to do psych. I've seen many new grads come there and do very well.
  6. I've worked at a psych hospital in a different capacity for the last 5 years. As a new grad I was hoping to be able to go into medical, but with the job market as it is.... a job is better than no job. Plus psych can be pretty interesting. I am also nervous about my future prospects. My plan is to continue my education and get my BSN as well as seek out other opportunities to maintain my medical knowledge. Already got my ACLS, looking to get PALS, then who knows. When I get my BSN I'll try to enter medical again.
  7. Wow, I'm very happy I came on here and looked. I was just speaking with one of the Kaplan representatives and she made things sound very promising. I had some doubts and was going to e-mail one of my past professors anyway. No way will I do this Kaplan program. I want to get my BSN to advance myself, it sounds like Kaplan is kind of an expensive dead end. Does anyone know of any online RN to BSN programs in the New York area other than Pace ($$$!!!)?
