APU LVN to BSN Spring 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I just received news today that I have been accepted into Azusa Pacific University's LVN to BSN program starting January 2015! Yay! I'm so excited and was wondering if anyone else has been accepted or have accomplished a nursing program at APU? I'm also from northern California and contemplating which areas to live and whether if I should find a room mate or apartment for living. Any tips will be very helpful! =)

Welcome to Allnurses.com! Congratulations on getting accepted into APU's BSN degree completion program.

Be cognizant that the area in which the school is located can get rather hot in the summer and somewhat chilly in the winter. Some decent locations to relocate near the school include Azusa, Duarte, Covina and West Covina.

@thecommuter Thank you for the welcome & the area suggestions! =)

I am also considering this school. What is the schedule like?

They haven't provided any details regarding the schedule yet, but I will let you know once I receive more information. Are you almost done with the pre-requisites? I would speak with an admissions representative and they will provide you more information, especially which classes you will need to take. Good luck! :)

Wow congrats! I didn't know they let you know so soon, isn't the application deadline Dec 1st?

I haven't even turned in my application yet, I am still on the fence about it bc of the $$$

How was the application process? Do you know if it is very competitive? I've got average grades so I don't even know if its worth applying. I love that it is a 2 year program though!!

So sorry about the late reply! Yes, the application is Dec 1st, but turn in whatever you have asap. First, I contacted the nursing department via phone and e-mail, then they assigned me to a program admissions director who informed me which courses/pre-requisites are required for the program. From there, they provided more information of what needs to be completed and when or if I would most likely start! Feel free to ask me any more questions! Good luck! =)

Thank you for the reply nursemelz!

I've started calling and sent in my transcripts, do you know how competitive it is to get in? You don't have to post your exact grades but I'm wondering if you have to be absolutely perfect or not haha. Some of these programs want like 3.5 + gpa and such.

Also, did you have an interview? Did you have LVN experience? Sorry for all of the questions, but hopefully I can get in for next semester too:) Thanks in advance!

I think as long as you have above a 3.0 cumulative GPA and nursing pre-requisites for APU you'll be fine. My GPA wasn't all that great since I didn't take my courses seriously when I first went to community college (which I regret tons), but I had about a 3.3 I think. In LVN school, my GPA was a 3.5.

How far along are you in pre-requisites? I think the more classes are complete, they can give you an estimate of when you will most likely be able to attend IF the ALL requirements are complete. Although I have been "accepted," I won't have a definite admission until I pass my current courses for this fall & mail in my official transcript as well as attend the orientation (which unfortunately lands on finals week...eeks). Hope this helps, but I would definitely ask APU multiple questions. Don't be shy! It's their job to provide you as much accurate information as they can! =)

Yes im almost done. I am planning on talking to a rep after this quarter

I also have been accepted into the January 2015 semester! Im nervous to see how this goes since we don't have a lot of information on the program outline until orientation1

Yay congrats! Are you from Southern California or moving to the area? I am also nervous yet excited at the same time. I can't wait to hear more about the program during orientation. :)
