Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone, I have decided to open a forum because I could not find the answers that I was looking for. I have applied to the BSN program entry level at Barry but I got put into the Pre Nursing program, sat down with an advisor registered for classes in the fall because i was missing religion and an art class as parts of their requirements. I am spending some kind of money as I am not qualified for financial aid. Now my problem is I had a W for a science class spoke to a supervisor she said that since I had made an appeal that I should be fine. My GPA is 3.5 I am studying to go take the Kaplan test in September. Can anyone tell me please how did the process go?I am trying to get in by spring. I am so confused because I already took loans to take those classes I don't want to get denied after I have spent all that money. I have an interview coming u with Nova this Tuesday and I'm also nervous. I am just trying to get to a reputable school by January 2017. Thank you for any follow ups

Welcome! Your thread's been moved to our Colleges/Student forum.

I'm a little confused as to what you are asking. You have to complete the prereqs before you can start in a nursing program. Take the prereqs, repeat the science you withdrew from. Then you can apply for the program. Too bad you took loans, always better to cash flow, but either use them for the pre-nursing courses or don't sign the note, if that's possible now. Regardless, you have to do A before you can do B. Good luck.

I am sorry I did not mention that I am a transfer from MDC. And I have an AA degree already, I have completed all the pre reqs and have repeated the class. My question is if I got accepted into pre nursing with the appeal for that w. Would I still be rejected even after I passed the Kaplan test and met all the other requirements.

Whether or not you are accepted or rejected is left entirely up to the faculty. Even if you've done all you could do, who knows, there may not be a seat left in the program. Rejection can be the result of many factors...not just issues with what's reflected on your transcript. With all that you're having to correct, you could possibly miss the deadline. Not saying this is the case, but this is another example of what could cause you to not be accepted into the Spring semester. You can only go by what your advisor tells you. I hope it works out in your favor. Good luck!

I misunderstood originally that you were already signed up to take those classes in the fall, and missed that you had already retaken the science. Sorry about that.

Your bigger problem is that just because you meet the requirements, that does not mean that you are the most desirable candidate. My program was in such demand (1,000 applicants for every 300 seats) that they could afford to be picky, and as far as I could determine, no one with less than a 3.8 got in. Even though the technical cutoff was 3.0. If you don't get in for the first round, take some extra hard science classes, get As and reapply. I know it's frustrating.

It sounds like you have done everything right, and have a great chance!

Unfortunately, there are too many nursing schools pumping out too many new grads, not enough instructors and not enough entry level jobs. Whether it's this spring or in the fall, you'll get there.
