Actual West Coast University California student input needed!!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

This is for Actual West Coast University Students. Those who are currently in the program and those who have graduate.

******NOT opinion givers, school bashers and folks who never attended the school.*****

Many future potential students are in need of real actual students of WCU to talk about the school. We hear enough of the bashers who never attended and nurses who hire students and say they won't hire a WCU student because they don't believe WCU is a good school, students are not capable and can't do the job coming out of the program and the cost is too much and they are not reputable enough and their pass rate is not a 90% or above.

How about hearing from actual nurses who have graduated from WCU and students who currently attend.

What is your real thoughts on the school, How is the education, what is the real?????

What are the good things about WCU and how have they contributed to your nursing career?

AGAIN! This is for REAL WCU Students!

We would appreciate WCU Students who can help us in giving us the real and not just opinions. If you are not a student already, a graduate or plan to attend, please do not Reply! The respect would really be appreciated.

Thank you so much!!!!

Specializes in hospice.

I stand corrected then. Good to know!

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

WGU pre-licensure is only available in a select few states CA is one and the others are listed on the website. In person clinicals are required

They offer it in California, Texas, Utah, Florida and I believe Indiana.

Specializes in PACU.

Ultimately, it's up to you where you choose to go.

However, be aware that HR managers can and WILL blacklist certain schools due to personal experience with its graduates or overall interpretation of the merits of their program. I used to work for an HR department that would throw any resumes with degrees from University of Phoenix, ITT Tech, etc without a second glance. Their caliber of candidate just wasn't up to par for that department. I will also tell you this is not the first time I've seen this happen and I suspect it will NOT be the last.

Also, you really should be concerned with any school's NCLEX pass rate. It is very telling of the caliber of their program. You can skate through school but you CANNOT skate through the NCLEX.

An increasing number of states are not accepting this education from another state for licensure. It is an issue of concurrent clinical. A nationally accredited school is your safest bet where nursing schools are involved. It does appear that WGU is CCNE accredited which is a plus for this school.

I would keep this in mind too.
