OCCC Fall 2013 Admissions

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Hello All!

I am currently getting my nursing school application together for OCCC's (Oklahoma City Community College) Traditional Pathway Nursing application deadline in April. I just wanted to put some feelers out to see who of you out there are also applying, and to see how we are all doing on our points. I have yet to take my TEAS test (I'll be taking it next week), and I am about to do clinicals to finish up my CNA (to get a preference point). If all goes well, I should be sitting at 18 points with a 3.27 GPA. I heard that the traditional pathway applicants for spring of 2012 had higher preference points, and GPA's than ever before. (DON'T Quote me, but I think it was something like 17 points, and a 3.3GPA) Regardless, it was higher than usual. The spring has, in the past, had less points required for admission than Fall. This was a little disconcerting to me, as I fear I am cutting it close. However, I have also heard that the BADNAP program, (which, in the past, has not even had enough applicants to fill its positions), has accepted applicants without all pre-requisites completed by the application deadline (as required in the past). This year, they are accepting applicants who will have pre-requisites completed before the start of the program. My hope is that this will ease up some tension on the traditional pathway applicants. Have any of you heard anything else? How are your points? What have you been doing to get extra points? Please feel free to share anything you may have struggled with about the process, and any support you would like to share. Good luck to us all!

Very weird and I just double checked mine and didn't get anything... Did everyone else get an email and I'm the only one who didn't?! OMG..

Did it tell you your points and GPA?

I got the same letter a month ago, but friends of mine that applied close to the deadline didn't get a confirmation letter. I wouldn't worry about not getting one.

Okay. I applied the day before the deadline, the 4th.

Okay. I applied the day before the deadline the 4th.[/quote']

I submitted my application on the 4th as well. No email for me either.

I applied on the 3rd. I wouldn't put too much thought into it. I wonder if anyone from admissions ever reads these forums and laughs at all of us freaking out. Fingers crossed for all of us. ;)

I applied the Monday before the deadline and didn't get an email.

Whew... I'm starting to feel better. Now, we wait.. :/

I didn't get any email either and I also applied the 4th.. I check my OCCC email every 10 minutes!! From my phone and laptop. Lol

I do have a question about the requirements... What science classes counted for the requirements? I'm starting to think I didn't have 3 classes for preference points. Geez, the stress.

As far as I know, anything Bio or Chem that was 3 credit hours or more, that you made a B or better in.

That's correct. The A&P 1&2, general Bio,micro,Chem,& nutrition all count for preference points as long as you have a "B" or higher. You are only allowed 3 points for these classes. So if you made a B or higher in all of them you still only get three points.
