Hello All!
I am currently getting my nursing school application together for OCCC's (Oklahoma City Community College) Traditional Pathway Nursing application deadline in April. I just wanted to put some feelers out to see who of you out there are also applying, and to see how we are all doing on our points. I have yet to take my TEAS test (I'll be taking it next week), and I am about to do clinicals to finish up my CNA (to get a preference point). If all goes well, I should be sitting at 18 points with a 3.27 GPA. I heard that the traditional pathway applicants for spring of 2012 had higher preference points, and GPA's than ever before. (DON'T Quote me, but I think it was something like 17 points, and a 3.3GPA) Regardless, it was higher than usual. The spring has, in the past, had less points required for admission than Fall. This was a little disconcerting to me, as I fear I am cutting it close. However, I have also heard that the BADNAP program, (which, in the past, has not even had enough applicants to fill its positions), has accepted applicants without all pre-requisites completed by the application deadline (as required in the past). This year, they are accepting applicants who will have pre-requisites completed before the start of the program. My hope is that this will ease up some tension on the traditional pathway applicants. Have any of you heard anything else? How are your points? What have you been doing to get extra points? Please feel free to share anything you may have struggled with about the process, and any support you would like to share. Good luck to us all!

I plan on applying for the fall. I currently have 19 points, should have 20 next week, when I pass the cna state exam.

I know that fall usually takes more points than spring, and last spring took 17....It makes me wonder how many people have 19/20+ points too. Biggest stress of my life. For sure. I almost want to fast forward to May/June.

Hello All, I applied last semester with 14 points and 3.0 GPA was not accepted, I took the teas test and scored a 61.3% and it my understanding that we need 62% to get the preference points which will put me at 17. .. Does anyone know if 61.3% will be enough for the points? Or will I need to retake it to get that last .7% I missed.

They round the percentage point to the nearest whole number, if it says 61%, you will most definitely have to re-take it. If it says 62%, I would check with the admissions guy to make sure it's enough. (Just to be sure). Good luck to you!

Thanks sn1028 I checked and they bumped it up to 62% YAY!! So I am going to try to get my math points next week if not i will still apply with what I have. Are you in the RN program at OCCC?
I am submitting my application this week for the Fall 2013 start in the traditional pathway. I'm guessing you are as well??
@snb1028 yes I am. I was not able to pass my math to get two more points ;( but I did go ahead and turn in my application. Turns out I have 16 not 17 points. So I applied with 16 points and 3.0 GPA. Not sure if that's enough ;( I guess I will know in 3 to 6 weeks. Hahaha! How many did you apply with Afterall? Any one else applying for Fall 2013 at OCCC?

I am applying with 17 points and a 2.94 GPA. I have heard from people that I will most likely be an alternate because the Fall semester is very competitive. I am hoping this is not the case.
