Paper done.......Ready for week 2?????

I posted (or thought I had), but it wasn't there when I just went back. I'll be doing the final post as I volunteered for this week when we first started the group work.

Are we in the same group? Every week at the last minute someone has volunteered to be leader so I wasn't sure who was posting this week. Unless I missed a post somewhere along the way, seems like we have had a lot of difficulty with seeing posts and having them actually post!! I have another class with group discussions my head is spinning between the two.

One group actually made a comment about how the ANA codes of ethics really doesn't pertain to the actions of a physician and why did we have to do it. Thought that was great!!! I agreed, why did we have to do a comparison???? Waste of discussion material as far as I am concerned. UGH...one more week.

Any other sections not able to access the group discussion for this week? I logged in earlier today and now the screen looks like a jumbled up mess. Another member of my group messaged us to see if we were having the same problem.

What a mess! How is everyone doing? I have major writer's block over this last paper. Our organization uses paper charting...no plans to change. How do I drag that into 3-4 pages?:banghead:

Maybe you could write about the disadvantages to paper charting and the consequences for not meeting the 2014 target date.

How about also write what you think an EHR would like like if used by your institution. What information should be documented? Who has access to it? Should/can your "clients" be able to view it? How can you maintain patient confidentiality in your area of practice? Don't forget that the last paragraph will sound similar to the first...so there is a bunch of stuff. If you follow the rubric it asks for several points to touch on. It adds up pretty quickly.

And......you also have to analyze the national EHR mandate. So the intro plus this is one page alone!!! Is this the same person who got a 100 on her professional development paper in transitions?!?! :D

michelemybell you always put a smile on my face. Paper writing has become such a drag for me. Can you please explain the consequences for not meeting the mandate. I'm really confused. This is a national mandate so who has to meet the criteria by 2014???

You're all right. Contrast the current system with the potential for EMRs. I can manage that. I've been working on it steadily for 3 hrs. Why does it take me so long??? Is the consequence for not meeting the mandate Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement?

Time to go to the gym...too much stress!

hahah I didn't mention consequences for not meeting it!!!! I mentioned the incentives ($$$$$) only. I really didn't think there was a choice . I too ran off to the gym. I did the cover page and references last night to get a jump start.....that took me an entire flippin hour! It was a help though.

You could also add a section on why your institution decided not to go with EHR. Do you work for a Critical Access Hospital?

Nope, I work for a very small county jail. I'm sure the EMR will come along one day. I'll muddle through this paper one word at a time. Thanks guys.
