Any one currently attending any of the Kent branches?

Specializes in Wound Care.

You can go to their website and get any info on gpa and prereq's. I was wondering if anyone is in the lpn to rn program at the Twinsburg campus? If there is a long wait time for Tri-C this is my 2nd option. If anyone is in the lpn to rn program at any Kent branch I am interested in the program schedule, is it 5 days a week...?

Does this school take biochemistry? And what gpa do you need to get in?

I am attending one of the Kent branches and you need a 2.7 GPA for their ADN program and for their BSN, you need a 3.6 or 3.7.

Hi! I just graduated from Kent State main campus BSN program in Dec. 2010...let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them!

I am a freshman student at the Kent Stark campus right now going for my BSN, however I want to switch to the ADN. :/ There are many people here that are sophomore and junior status that haven't gotten into the BSN program yet, and are still trying to get in.

I know this is a little bit late, but do you still need Bio Structure and Function, Microbiology, Organic Chemistry, and Fundamentals of Chem for the ADN as well?

The BSN is just so overwhelming and too competitive. I might just get done quicker if I get the ADN, then just do the RN to BSN bridge program when I am done. :]

I am attending the Stark campus as well and have applied for the ADN at the Tusc. branch. You need all of those classes that you mentioned for the ADN program. You will also need Microbiology AND Lab. I just found out today and I thought it was very interesting that for the BSN program you only need Micro and not lab, but for the ADN program, you need lab.

I'm doing HORRIBLE in microbiology..lol. I have ---- now and have a D. :( Can you just take the lab by itself? I am retaking Micro in the Fall. :) I wonder if I know you? Many nursing students have classes together! Thank you for replying!!

I DO NOT want to hear that as I am taking Micro this summer! LOL!! I have heard that she is very hard though. When is your Micro classes? I know two people in Micro and they are having trouble as well. Yes, I believe you can take lab by itself because like I said I am taking Micro this summer, but the lab in the fall is already filled. So I am not able to take lab until next spring of 2012. What other classes are you taking?

Micro in the summer would be going much faster with the material. So I'd advise you to study!! LOL. But, she is a nice teacher and if you print off her powerpoints and study a lot then you should be fine. I have her now Tues and Thursdays from 2-3:15, but since exam week is coming my last day with her is tomorrow.

I have started to study for the last exam though, which is a good thing. :) But..being that she is the only one teaching it in the fall, I am going to have the benefit of having taken it before, y'know?

With Forgiveness, you can retake any lower division class over to get the better grade to boost your GPA. I only had a 3.09 last semester. :/ Thats not going to cut it for the BSN, since my advisor said the average GPA admitance for the nursing program at Kent Stark was like a 3.6 average.

..Yeah. It sounds impossible to me..

As for other classes I am in, I am taking Core Math III (which I failed.. so I have to retake it. My math skills are horrid, and hold me back from taking my chemistrys. :/ ).

As for Fall of 2011 Well... That is sort of up in the air right now. Since I failed Core Math III, I will have to rearrange my whole Fall Schedule now since I had Modeling Algebra and Fundamentals of Chemistry scheduled..

You must think I am incredibly stupid by my bad grades, and failing a remedial math class! I'm so embarrassed!

KKinkai1, no I do not think you are stupid at all considering when I was in high school, my counselor advised me not to go into nursing because of how bad I was in math. I am glad I decided to go for it though!

I will give you some advice though because this is what I did! I had a tutor in Core II. When I got into Core III my tutor was no longer available so I went for it anyway. This was last spring of 2010. Needless to say after the first quiz, I had to withdrawal. I decided to retake it last summer in a 5 week session and I found me a new tutor. My class started in July, BUT I started working with my tutor five weeks before this class started so he could kind of catch me up. Once the class started, I then started seeing the tutor twice a week. This was the only way for me to "get it".

I will warn you though, chemistry is tough because of all the math. Sadly, I have a C- right now so the final on Monday is either going to make or break me. I have two tutors for Chem. and I see them a total of three times a week. It has been a very long semester. Chem. feels like I am taking five classes because of all the hours I have had to spend. If your not great at math I wouldn't advice taking modeling Algebra along with chemistry, plus you don't even need that class for the ADN at the tusc branch!

You are so not stupid. I had to take Modeling Algebra this past Spring and it was a nightmare. If you are able to, be sure to take ---- for the math class you have to retake. She is awesome!!

The sheet I found (a pdf) said the minimum gpa is 2.0.

I also found this, an online brochure:

Kent State Nursing Brochure

But yes, mostly it's very generic. Sorry!

The minimum gpa is actually a 2.7. It does say 2.0 on the roadmap but it needs up dated. If you look at the application it says 2.7
