What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

I had a great time reading some of these. Let's see...I personally know or have worked with Tequila, Angel Starr and a man named Dude, but my favorite is a very nice man at our church named Harry Butts.:roll

A high school teacher had a sister named Candy- last named Stripe.

My family has some unusual Italian names. It can be common in Sicily to name at least one daughter in some way after the Virgin Mary. My grt-gran was Nunziatina (The Annunciation)- my sister ended up with this goofy middle name. My grandmother was Eleanora Immaculetta Concepciono (The Immaculate Conception). My aunt is Tindera (the Virgin Mary of Tindel).

My hippie cousins have gotten into the unique naming game as well, Lotus (a girl), Malachi (a boy), and Helenippa Manhatten (a girl).

And we thought my cousin's name (June Delight) was weird! She was born in May...

I once worked with a woman named Mercedes--but hers was pronounced MER-se-dees. Is that Spanish?

I like my name: Tomi. Its kind of different for girls to be named that, and I really like the spelling, its even harder to find.

I went to school with a kid name Richard Head (Dick Head) and also one named James James James Jr.

godd shamagodd- he was foreign, maybe this was normal

I've known several girls named Cinnamon, but the one that takes the cake (heehee) was my daughter's teacher a few years ago. Her full name was Cinnamon Crisp. It took me most of the year to be able to think about it without a giggle.

Also when I was young we lived upstairs from a woman named Baby. It was funny to hear my dad come home, say "Hi, Baby", then come upstairs and say the same thing to me. :lol2:
