Why would I be talking to my patients about physics?

I took it 40 years ago in high school. Hated it then. Don't use it now.

What situation would require you to talk to your patients about physics?

You could talk about an MRI and how the magnetic works in relation to the body and why their is a concern for metal in or around the patient.

You could talk about radioactive isotopes used for cancer treatment and how they can affect the body/cells.

Their is a large correlation between healthcare and physics, however this is probably really not conversation that would be had by a bedside nurse.

Gravity. Motion. Optics. Electricity. Fluid dynamics.

Are you asking why you ought to take physics? I know at least one excellent university where all nursing students have to take intro physics for health majors. The above (and more) is why.

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PACU.

We use physics every day.
