What shoes brand is good?

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Published

Hi nurses! I'm looking for shoes that would support me 40hrs/wk at work. I have some nikes but I think they are hurting my feet, maybe it's depend on the style also. I have heard some brands that lots of nurses wear, so just wondering if you guys know any or have any advice? Thanks

Btw I also heard about Toms, and considering that just because its stylish and semi comfy (not sure if it would support me and my back at work though)

I just went through the best shoe dilemma. I am now loving the Allegria brands. I have small and narrow feet and need lots of arch support. The extra bonus... they have lots of fun colors....They arent cheap....but youll pay awhole lot more for sick feet/legs....

Our preferences for work shoes are as uniquely individual as the different shapes and widths of our feet. What works for one person may fail miserably on another coworker.

Personally, I prefer athletic shoes instead of nursing shoes. I've had good luck with Nike Reax running shoes over the past three years because they keep my feet relatively comfortable throughout the course of a 12 hour shift. I also like New Balance running shoes because they come in wide width. I also like an obscure casual shoe called SAS; they're handmade in Texas and very expensive, but very comfy.

I would not wear Toms. If you splash urine or get :poop: on those things...your feet will be wet! :***:

I personally love Alegria shoes...lots of fun colors and styles to choose from, or if your work is more strict on the color of shoes you can wear, they have solid color options as well. Those + some support socks really make a huge difference.

My feets are very... Abnormal hahaha idk maybe I have not got the right shoes yet. I just check it out, it's about $100+. I don't mind paying for it, but it has to be the right one and worth it ya know. For some reason my legs been hurting lately too, not sure if its from standing either. :/

You're right! And maybe it's the style of that certain pair of Nike doesn't fit for me. I have heard of sas, but there's not many option or style for it.

That's kind of true about toms.

We can wear any color shoes as long as they are closed toes. What are some support socks? I heard a lot but I don't want to buy the wrong kind. Can you give me fore info on that? I would love some support socks! :)

I love my Alegria Paloma's! I have a hx of plantar fasciitis, so bad that I had to go on leave at one point. I tried every type of shoe I could think of with no relief. I finally bought a pair of Alegria's and they are HEAVEN! I work in a busy ER so I am running my entire shift & I swear these shoes have all but cured my PF. I can wear them 3 days in a row with now heel pain - I love it! Plus they have so many adorable designs & colors...very fun considering we have no choice in our scrub colors!

Like others have said above - its all about personal preference. You may try many before you find "the perfect shoe" - good luck!

Agree with Commuter about your feet size and shape. I personally got a pair of dansko clogs that are ok, just a little heavy, but they fit my arch well. My husband has this annoying, but effective habit of trying on shoes in the shoe store and walking around in them for I swear, an hour. He has never returned a shoe nor complained about them... but if you try this tactic don't take anyone with you.

I was told this one little trick that has helped me. Buy 2 pair of shoes for work. Halfway through your shift take 5 min. and go change your socks and shoes to the other pair. It sounds so silly but it really does help your feet to keep from hurting. I have found Birkenstock shoes to be great but not much in colors, white, black, brown and now some none leather ones in colors. My daughter would never give up he Danskos. She has several. They are expensive. More colors then should be allowed!

I love my Toms and I live in TX where it doesn't rain much, but rainy weather and Toms don't mix! ;)

Support socks add some light compression to your feet/legs. They help with that leg fatigue that comes with being on your feet for long hours at a time. These are the ones I use, by Cherokee. They are knee-high and I do not have issues with them sliding down during a shift. They are not "tight," they just add some light compression. They make a world of a difference when I wear them compared to when I don't!

Check out a medical supply/scrub shop in your area, or you can order them online.

Where would u guys say I can find Alegria shoes in store? It would be better to try them on first before buying it. Also I saw Amazon selling them for a bit cheaper.
