The most comfortable Nursing Shoes

I guess the title says it all. Which shoes are the most comfortable for those 12 hour shifts?

I wear only New Balance 927's. I am a rather large guy 5' 10" 250# and My feet never hurt at the end of my shifts. I wear them to exercise, and on vacation when I am often on my feet walking/standing around all day. I haven't bought anything else for the last 5 years. They are pricey, but worth every penny.

Wore Birkenstocks when I was a Surg Tech. Really nice but my feet got sweaty and stinky. As a nurse I started out in crocs. VERY comfortable, but holy smokes, watch out if that tread gets worn down. Quite slippery on wet surfaces. Also do the "croc step" in them a lot. Where you kind of stub your toe while walking.

The best I've discovered are Danskos. Took my feet a while to "break them in". But they are awesome. Nice arch support. Only problem is they also get hot and stinky.

When you find out, let me know. I have peripheral neuropathy and I'm looking for a good comfortable light weight pair of shoes too!

Thankya:thankya:

I wear Nike Free running shoes. They are very lightweight, soft on your feet, overall comfortable. Only drawback to me is they are mesh, so if any type of fluid should splash on your shoes, it will most likely soak through to your socks. Luckily that has never happened to me. I wear them 12 hrs and my feet feel good.

I must say that I'm jealous of you guys who can wear athletic shoes. If I tried to wear them for any length of time, it would be pure and total agony.:eek::eek:

I agree - I love the Shox and so many other of the Nike styles that people swear by, but they're so uncomfortable for me. :(

I love, love my danskos! Also love Timberland pro renova professional.

I wore Nike Shox for the first two years of nursing school. My feet were killing me by the end of 8 hours. However the Nike Free have not given me any problems so far. They really are very comfortable. Very lightweight and breathable.

Easy Spirit anti-gravity and the Skechers with the wedge sole, seems like the more between me and the floor, the better

Anyone have experience with the Alegrias?? Seems to be the lastest trend. I had Danskos for years as a teacher and 6 hours was about all they were good for, for me. I have a pair of Skecher somethings and they were great, breaking down a bit. I also have had good luck with Brooks walking shoes (orthopedist sent me there!)
