Littmann Master Cardiology?

Littmann Classic II?

Littmann Master Classic II?

Littmann Cardiology III?

I start Med/Surg in just a few weeks and want a Littmann - but there are so many to choose from! From your experience, which works well for you? I would like one under $200 that won't hurt my neck and ears. But I also want a really GOOD one that will last me quite a while (God willing no one snatches it away!!)

Suggestions PLEASE! Thanks everyone...

I personally have a Cardiology III. I know a lot of people will argue that that is too much money and you don't need a scope like that - and I wouldn't argue with them. I got this scope because my hearing is not great at the best of times, so any help I can get is good. I have had other scopes in the past, and compared them with my Cardiology III and there is no comparison at all. You can hear SO MUCH MORE with a good scope. You can get by with a $50 dollar scope, I know people who have. It all depends on what you want. I would suggest buying the best one you can afford - but don't go into debt over it. Christmas is coming. Instead of gifts, ask for money to put towards what you want!

Whatever scope you end up buying, get it engraved at a local mall on the bell. I doesn't cost more than about $20 but it is worth it. If you scope happens to 'get lost' you stand a greater chance of spotting it and recovering it if your name is engraved on it somewhere.

Yikes, $200 on a stethoscope for the start of nursing school? Mine was around $20 at the bookstore. I don't plan on getting a really good one until I graduate. I forget the brand name of mine, but it works well for what I have to do. Nearly everyone in my clinical group had the same kinda stethescope but in different colors. Mine was purple.

I have the Littmann classic II. Unless you're working specificlaly with cardiac in a ICU/CCU or have hearing problems this one should be good enough. Also..check e-bay- as you can get them cheaper there sometimes.

The Litmann Classic II I think you can get for $65-$85.

the litmann classic ii thats what our school requires it works really well for me. comes in a bunch of differant colors and two ear pad thingys one soft one hard. its kind of heavy but it dosent kill your neck. if you invest alittle money i think you get better quality though some people say it dosent matter what the price.... i say go mid priced and think of it as an investment. its not like it will go bad. but keep an eye on your scope. dont put it down. alot of scopes have grown legs esp. in hospitals.

Master Classic is a great scope, clear sound, easy to use, relatively light. Check out Ebay....$65-70.

I have a master cardiology. Yes, as the other poster said, they are very expensive, but are sooooo worth it. There is a huge difference between the master cardiology and the cardiology III. Many of my classmates have a hard time with the simple task of taking blood pressure with their stethoscope. How can you hear extra heart sounds or lung sounds if you can't even hear a blood pressure?

I use Master Classic II at my tech job and I really like it. I found a really slick "Black Edition" at Allheart. It doesn't have any shiny parts.

extra heart and lung sounds arent hard to hear at all if you can hear a bp :monkeydance:

The Master Classic II should be fine. It even works for me and I am mildly hearing impaired.

sorry.. would have to disagree. :nono: diastolic murmurs from lets say mitral stenosis are very very hard to hear. if you can't get a blood pressure, your not going to pick up subtleties.

I use the Card. III and bought it from AllHeart and got it for about $125 - also they have a way to put your name on it too - I paid about $15 for that and it was worth it!
