I think you should put a little more on your resume about your experiences in nursing school...

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

Take out the objective. Of course you want a nursing job where you will use your education.

I agree about putting in more about your nursing school experience. Put your rotations and how many hours you completed in each, and maybe where you did them. Where did you do your senior preceptorship? How long was it?

"Only" having one job isn't necessarily a bad thing- you show longevity, something that's very appealing. Plus, baristas have to work in a fast-paced environment, have to deal with crazy demands (extra, extra, extra caramel frappuccino with 17 pumps of caramel syrup), multitasking... Been a barista myself, so I know! (looks like your numbers are close to mine, I'm a 133****). But all of those things are definitely relatable to nursing!

I would move your skills up above your work experience, particularly because of your language skills.

Specializes in ORTHO, TRAUMA, MED-SURG, L&D, POSTPARTUM.

Ditch the objective statement as it is pretty self explanatory; my school always told me to put one but most of HR says its unnecessary. I agree that you have unique language skills that you should move to the top to set you apart from the crowd. Add your clinical rotations and hours. Also condense your job descriptions as a barista to make room for healthcare clinical experience. Best Wishes in the Job Search. - Fellow Cali Girl

Thank you for the input both of you! I am glad @RunBabyRN that are able to relate!! Starbucks has been my first and only job so I don't have much experience in writing resumes! This is going to be a big change haha. I am a 149---- number :)

Ok, I will adjust a bit more by putting down clinical/nursing school experience. The reviewer would obviously know that all nursing students have gone through L&D, peds, ICU, telemetry, etc etc... So, do I put down skills I have done? Scenarios in clinical that I have handled? Just a little confused on that end..

Hello all, So I put down my most recent clinicals as the main focus. My last semester was full of cardiac and neuro for the most part. I ran out of room on my resume after this. I hope this is relevant.

Student Clinical Experience:

Senior Preceptorship – HOSPITAL, LOCATION – 260 hours – Fall 2013

Cardiac Telemetry – 120 hours:

Comprehensive cardiac assessments along with analyzing heart monitor strips

Direct care up to four patients including those with seizures and central lines

Pre-operative and post-operative care in both Cardiac Cath Lab and Angioplasty

Intensive Care/Emergency – HOSPITAL, LOCATION – 90 hours

Hemodynamic monitoring

Direct care of patients in shock, stroke, respiratory failure, and cardiac arrest

Leadership/delegation rotation – Eisenhower Medical Center, Palm Desert, CA – 50 hours

Leader role by making patient assignments while overseeing group of three students

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

Don't describe what you did at each, but actually, not all schools do the same clinical rotations. I listed out what I did for my preceptorship, but here's what I have for my other clinicals:

Other nursing school clinical experience:

Medical/Surgical- Hospital A, 270 hours. Included rotations in ED, ICU, cardiac cath lab and surgical units.

Maternal Child- Hospital A, 90 hours

Mental Health- various locations throughout My County, 90 hours

Pediatrics- Hospital B ED; District A Schools, 90 hours

Community health- District A Schools, 90 hours

Specializes in ORTHO, TRAUMA, MED-SURG, L&D, POSTPARTUM.

I agree with RunBaby. You don't really need to list everything you did at clinicals. But I agree not all programs have the same clinicals so its good to list them if you have room.

I only listed tasks I completed during my preceptorship. I kept it short, but listed how many patients I was able to care for and what the floor specialized in. ie med-surg/stroke, tele, ortho ect.
