Need resume advice!!!!

  1. I need to fix my resume to submit for a new RN job. I have 2.5 years of experience already as a RN, but I was just wondering if I need to even include my student nurse clinical areas as I did when I was applying for my first position fresh out of school. Also, how important is the cover letter?

Student nurse clinicals do not add value for for an experienced nurse and take up prime real estate on your resume. There are no downsides to a cover letter, and when well written, a cover letter engages the reader and makes them want to read you resume.

Target your resume to the individual organization; use strategic keywords for ATS; provide examples of your soft skills.

I recently published "Your Last Nursing Class: How to Land Your First Nursing Job" with examples of resumes and cover letters, how to ace interviews and tons of insider tips from my hiring manager background. I hope you'll check it out! Best wishes.

You should gear your resume as best as you can to the job posting you are interested in. If this new position is a different unit/specialty and you had experience during your rotations in that unit, I suggest adding your experience that is applicable to your resume. And omit the rotations that don't apply.
