Wow, Do they speak english?

I don't know if they all speak english, but I know for a fact that the person that I talked to on the phone speaks a very good english.

Could you please post a link for anyone interested to follow, or at least a school name? Leaving that to private messages kind of defeats the purpose of an open forum. Thanks!

Uuuhhh, Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the US with Commonwealth status. Puerto Ricans are technically US citizens. Their official languages are Spanish and English. The majority use Spanish as their primary language but most also speak English. In an educational environment I would expect English would be the primary language. On a side note so no arguments are started here there are two politcal sides in Puerto Rico. Those that want complete independence from the US and those that want statehood. Both have their own merits.

Hey RNDude,

I don't see the defeating part of PM someone to get the info that you know is going to benefit you. I PM people all the time especially if I know I'm going to benefit from the info.

Thanx

:rolleyes:I couldn't help but smile. A lot of people forget or don't know that Puerto Rico is indeed a territory of the US.

Just to add a note to all of this, the University of the US Virgin Islands Nursing School has no waiting list either. They are a US territory and you dont have to worry about the langauage barrier. I went to high school on St. Thomas USVI so it's common knowledge for me. There are many mainlanders that go to school in the Virgin Islands. Same rules apply as with American schools because it is an American School.

I currently dont live there any more - live in SC now, and if I werent married and settled here, I would have definitely gone there.

Hi, just for the record I do know Puerto Rico is a territory. I have a good friend from Puerto Rico. Spanish was her primary language growing up in Puerto Rico. Thats why I asked, I try not to assume too much.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you shouldn't PM people. I just think a thread about a nursng school with no wait would be more useful if it actually contained the name of the school, or a link.

I totally agree with you. There happens to be a lot of Puerto Ricans who do not speak English (maybe VERY basic like just learned). When I was in the Army and in Basic Training they had people from Puerto Rico all the time who had to go to English training classes because they didn't know common english, except for hellos, or foods, etc. So there are some that do not speak english.
