Can you walk a patient with a continuous feeding? What would be the precautions?

I have had a couple of patients that were on feeds and were ambulatory.I don't think there were any special precautions.If you are walking someone that needs help you may need someone else to push the pole.

Most pts who are on feeds and were ambulatory, have bags or backpacks and were able to go to appointments uninterrupted. They have particular pumps that can be mobile with them. :yes:

Yep, no particular precautions that I'm aware of. I used to walk a patient on TPN, chemo, and a PCA. You could double-dutch jump rope with all the IV lines the poor guy had.

Why wouldn't you be able to? I have kids all the time who are on continuous feeds and they wear backpacks with their pumps in them. You're a nurse... have you never eaten while walking before? That was pretty much the only way I ate in the hospital.

Yes many kids wear backpacks and go to school and even do sports with continuous feeds
