Anyone know anything or have any opinions on UOPs RN-MSN bridge program? Are there any other similar programs? I would appreciate any help and/or comments.

University of Arizona is actually a private school, so they do not have out of state tuition. When I was living out of the country last year and in talks with them for my doctorate, there was actually a 20% discount if you were out of the country.:)

Im an LPN and Im signing up with Excelsior for my RN, and am interested in getting my masters after that, preferrably online. I met with a rep from College Network (Im not gonna sign, just wanted info) and he told me that Regis is coming out with an RN-MSN online early next year. Definitely something to look into! It has to be cheaper than Univ. of Phoenix....bc I dont know the prices but everyone says its outrageous!

I just finished with my BSN from UOP and yes, you can attend FT. Attending FT though is one class every 5 weeks. Better have good time management and understand you will be married to the computer :chuckle .You can double up (if you can pay out of pocket) and as long as there no other prerequisites. Doubling up on nursing classes is difficult if nearly impossible. I did double up and take some electives with nursing courses. Word to the wise...try to stagger so you start one and start another after a week or two. Usually week 4 and 5 are easier, but myself I get the stuff done early so towards the end I can take it easy. You have to be insistant with your advisor that you want to do it.

And yes, you can take vacations. You just have to plan so you can post at least 2/week. But I, myself, took my laptop along and posted late at night. You have to remember you do alot of group work, so you have to take into consideration of that. That's the only reason why I took it along...sometimes other team members slack and you have to jump start them. Each course has group work that make up about 30-40% of the course work. I took several trips to Disney and San Diego while doing this program and managed a 3.97 GPA. It's very do-able! Best of luck! Any other questions about the program, let me know.

Thanks for the reply! I spoke to an advisor last night and she was very helpful, but somewhat vague regarding one's ability to not attend full-time or take every class consecutively. Any thoughts? I would like to be able to go on vacations and have some flexibility. How much time are you studyig/preparing each week? Are you using their financial aid? It is sooo expensive.

Thanks for the reply! I guess I'm not so much ilnterested in accelerating the program as I am in doing it more slowly than 1 class every 5-6 weeks. Can you take a class and then skip a class for 5-6 weeks? I must be lazy :chuckle

I am also interested in the RN-MSN online. If you do not mind...how much does each class cost (@ UofP ) and how many total classes do you need to complete the program? If anyone else knows prices on other schools..let me know!! I am sure there are out-of-state expenses too? Military Spouse, I am also a military spouse and I am concerned with flexibility in regards to completing classes consecutively. I will need some breaks! Thanks!

Also...does anyone know how it works after completing your MSN? Do most brick and mortar (MSN)NP schools accept your Masters and allow you to just work on the clinical portion of the NP requirement? Thanks again!!

Where are you stationed? My hubby is getting ready to retire, but he will basically be doing the military thing as a civilian. Oh well! I will miss all the moving, but I used to hate moving--funny how life changes!

It's great to hear so many positive things about UOP. I have been visiting hospitals and Med centers and speaking with the staff about finishing their degrees. I like hearing the stories. It helps me understand all of the different obstacles that current students encounter. It's great to know that you CAN overcome the difficulties with schedules, finance, etc...

I would be interested in seeing the info that forwarded regarding the course catalog and the pricing. I don't have that e-mail. That could be beneficial for me. Please post the link or send it to me directly!

You can not go more than 30 days between classes otherwise your financial aid gets dropped.

just wondering...how long does it take to finsh RN-MSN? Like, if you do a class right after eachother?

2 years if you have the RN degree and any BS degree first. IF not you have to take another course for the BSN first.

If you are doing it on-line then you have the flexibility, you still have computer access no matter where you are in the world. It will depend on how quickly that you can work and get your assignments done.

If you do need to drop for a class, you can usually catch up with the class behind you. I know that this is what they did in the past. They just try to keep students together, so they really don't want someone taking a class, then stopping every other month...........

This is so true I love the flexiblity. I am going to Hawaii this coming month and will take the laptop and use if needed while there. Yes, I have seen students drop out the course and resume later, of course as you said this is not encouraged by staff to keep the classes max load of 15.
