University of Wyoming RN/BSN Online

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone here has done the University of Wyoming online program? If you did how did you find it? Hard? Easy? Somewhere in between?

Also, did you work at the same time and how much? I would like to try to get through the program without taking out additional loans so I am trying to gauge if I could still work full-time. Even if you didn't go to UW online but are just looking in to see the answerss, how many of you worked while going full-time online and what were the pro's and cons of doing that.

I would really appreciate any help I can get. I'm starting to get that panicked, am I ready for all of this again.

Thanks everyone! Hope you have a great weekend!

I was put on the waiting list for POLS 1000 today. Hopefuly I'll be able to take it on Aug. 22th. You know, PHCY 4450, PhCY 4470, and NURS 3010 are all unavailable for this fall. I checked the books for ANTH 1200 and the price for the 3 required books shocked me ! It's nearly $200. As you mentioned, I'll try to petition that and see if I have good luck on it.

Waiting is really such a bad process but I have to. The transcript evaluation is slow, too. I just wish I can see how many courses I'll actually need to take now. But the answer is NOPE!

Are you waitlisted for Nurse3010? Thats what I am taking. Pol Sci in the Spring. I rent all my books from Chegg.com

No. Not NURS3010. It was closed already. I'm not even sure if I'll be able to take POLS1000 this fall cause I'm still on the waiting list.

No one has told me that I was formally admitted so far. I received an admission letter a few weeks ago just like you, then I did criminal background check and faxed them my acceptance form. Then I was directed to register classes by refering to my unofficial program of study, and then nothing happens...... Have you been told when and where to check your official course requirements yet?

Having read many threads on this website and I'm excited about the beginning of school, though. Currently I got a book about APA writing and trying to figure out how to write paper in APA style. I've been out of school very long and almost forgot about everything.......

I've been accepted for this Fall too. Likewise, I've sent in my confirmation and done my background check, but haven't seen anything more official yet. My impression though is that the nursing classes aren't just open for general enrollment because you must have been accepted into the nursing program to get in. So you just need to sign yourself up for them, ensure you've selected waitlist and then they will clear you and you'll be officially enrolled.

I am taking the upper level Patho class and POLS right now (will be done in 3 days, yay!). Anyway, I was on the waitlist for both of these back in May and didn't have any trouble eventually getting in. Just keep holding out and you should be fine.

Also, in regards to POLS...I talked to my advisor yesterday and she mentioned that there is a test out option with a WY gov test so you don't have to take the class. I was shocked...I had heard nothing about this and now here I am almost done with the class. I would have loved to have saved the time, tuition/book money, etc. to just try and opt out. I'm skeptical as to if this is actually true though, as I feel I would have heard about it. The class is actually just a general gov class and at the very end you take an open book test on WY gov, specifically, so I am wandering if she somehow got confused with that info. But anyway, something to dig around and find out!

Thank you for sharing the good news! KTSNurse2b! I'll definitely check UW's website and see how the POLS test is. As for me, PHCY4450/4470, STAT2050, and NURS3010 are all closed now and I'm not even able to put myself on the waitinglist. So jelous of you! You are so lucky to register early enough and you're almost done with these courses.

By the way, how was the upper Patho? Any papers to write? I'm not good at writing those papers.

Pathophysiology has no papers to write! I take the last test tomorrow and can cross that class off my list. I am taking Nurs310 and PHCY 4470 next.

yay! good for you! vasfar2001!

i just contacted the political science department and they said the test doesn’t actually replace the pols 1000 course, it does meet the wy constitution usp requirement.i think the test should be able to meet the usp requirement for our program. i'll ask them for more details.

american & wyoming government exam (3 credit hours)

individuals desiring to challenge the entire course (3 hrs. - national and state government) may take a comprehensive examination. this examination consists of a large number of multiple choice, true/false, and short answer questions. students should obtain the books for pols 1000, which should include an american government book, as well as the book listed above, from the bookstore and read the u.s. and wyoming constitutions. passing = 70%. this exam may be retaken once in your academic career (not per semester). sitting fee and application are required for each attempt.

I received something in e-mail that had my required courses on it. I am going to call the advisor before I register for Spring and ask about the political science option that was mentioned on here. I didn't know that either. My books were 62.00 through Chegg. Got my Algebra study guide from the library today...it looks hard.

I just received an e-mail which states that my admission is finalized and my advisor will be in touch with me soon. Therefore, I think I'll receive my official course requirement very soon.

For POLS 1000, I'm going to give myself a try, but the Political Department hasn't replied my e-mail yet. Before I start, I need to confirm that I'll be able to take the test in my area.

You'll be fine with the algebra. I may need it, too.

I got another problem: PHCY 4450 is open, but the waitlist was filled, so I'm not able to register this course, not even be put on the waitlist. It always shows "Registration add errors", do you guys have any suggestions on it? All help are appreciated!

Also, I guess I need to take PSYC 1000, but I couldn't find it available online. When you see it's available, please do tell me first.

Thanks a lot!

The Political Science Department says that the 3 credits test is very hard and only a few in 50 people can pass the test, but the 1 credit test is easy to pass, though. Reading the books will take about 2 months and it's a proctored test. With 2 little ones at home, I guess more than 50% chance I'll fail it. Taking the course might be my first choice now.

Does the 1 credit test fulfill the Pol Sci requirement? I thought the class might not be too bad.
