University of Wyoming RN/BSN Online

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone here has done the University of Wyoming online program? If you did how did you find it? Hard? Easy? Somewhere in between?

Also, did you work at the same time and how much? I would like to try to get through the program without taking out additional loans so I am trying to gauge if I could still work full-time. Even if you didn't go to UW online but are just looking in to see the answerss, how many of you worked while going full-time online and what were the pro's and cons of doing that.

I would really appreciate any help I can get. I'm starting to get that panicked, am I ready for all of this again.

Thanks everyone! Hope you have a great weekend!

I also received my paperwork this week but I have been busy with work (Noc shift) and did not receive it in time to call and ask about proctored exams.

Since a few of you already take classes there can someone tell me how this is done? Through Pearson Vue or through some other route?

Thanks for the information. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and Congrats on getting in. :yeah:

tinkaddict,

Talk to someone in the education department where you work. I am taking pathophysiology this summer (one more proctored exam left!). It has worked great to take the exams before I start my shift. No extra running around to take a test.

One of my friends takes the exams at a local cc in the area here

Hi DutchRN09,

Congratulations on your admission! What classes are you taking this fall? I am taking Pharmacology and Nurs 310.

:o

Hi DutchRN09! I just received my admission, too! I reviewed the attached program of study and I have about 65 credits needed to be done in this program. I'm part of excited and part of nervous because I have left school for school for so long (8 years)......

Community colleges are the way to go to have your exams proctored in my opinion....especially if you don't have an avenue through an education dept. at work. Just call around to the testing centers of the community colleges in your area. Some will charge a fee, but usually with enough calling you can find one that will proctor for free. I've lived in two different cities and have had no trouble getting my tests proctored for free at a community college that I am not even an official student at. Testing center hours are usually pretty convenient as well.

I only need 10 classes, so that should be OK, I am starting with Stats, if there is room in a class. When I tried to register today, my status said, "You need to register" so I don't understand that since I received my letter in the mail. I e-mailed the advisor and am waiting to hear. Will call them in the morning. I am off the next 3 days so I want to get this figured out. I have never taken an online class, and I hope it won't be too bad. It will be fun if some of us are in the same online class:redpinkhe

OK I am able to register for Fall, and am waitlisted for every class...stats, pathophysiology, and pol science...frustrating. I hope something opens up, I don't really want to wait until Spring.

Then I'll be dead! I think I'll be waitlisted to every class, too! If you see anything new, please let me know. my email: [email protected] . Thanks a lot! DutchRN09!

FYI -- If your math classes are not college algebra, then you have to take that...its a pre-req for stats 2050. Or, you can do a math placement test, if you are good at math, I am not. I am taking a math class at the cc, and professional nursing online at Wyoming. Will try the math placement test in the summer of 2012. This has been frusterating to find out...

Have you received your formal admission yet? DutchRN2009. I'm still waiting for it. My unofficial evaluation states that Math 1000 was met, but I am still not sure it really counts. If doesn't, I'll be taking the placement test as you'll be doing. I registered Pharmacology which starts on Aug. 22th., but waitlisted for it also. So don't know if I'm atucally taking it or not.

I'll need ANTH1200 and PSYC 1000, but couldn't find where to take PSYC 1000. So far, I found it's only available in campus studay, not online. My advisor haven't got me the answer yet.

By the way, any idea how long will it take for receiving the official course requirement? The waithing is kind of frustrating for me.....

Good luck on your math placement test!

I did get my admission letter a few weeks ago and completed the background ck (40.00) and faxed my acceptance letter back to them. I agree that it takes a long time to hear from the advisors, so I usually end up calling rather than e-mail. Good for you that your math requirement counts. Mine were all 900 leve (which I didn't know). I am using College Algebra for Dummies to prepare and will hopefully pass the placement test in March and take stats in the Fall of 2012.

Its a slow process! You might want to try to CLEP out of some gen ed requirements? I did that for sociology :twocents:
