Transition to the Registered Professional Nurse Role-Excelsior

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Has anyone taken the version of the Transition exam by Excelsior. I didn't find that much of the material that was on the practice exams, along with the content guide matched the exam that I took.

If you have taken this exam what did you do to prepare for the exam? I used the practice exams, along with study group 101 material, nclex books.

There is a book - Chitty, I think - about Professional Roles in Nursing. I didn't take the exam (I was about a year too early) but it was my lifeline during the discussions. It's a source book for the online course, so I would think a lot of the material would be in there. Once again, Rue Educational Publishers has good material written by nursing instructors to mirror the objectives. No, I do not work for them, but I am proof they work. I do well with self-motivated study, but I need a framework within which to study, and that did it.

If you can't find the book, send me a message here or privately and I'll find my copy and give you the ISBN. I'm not at home right now, so I can't grab it.

If you could post the ISBN they would be GREAT!! I find that is the fast's way to find books on amzon.

If you have any other advice regarding the other nursing exams I would greatly appreciate it. I have been an LPN for 8 years, going back to the "book world" hasn't been easy.

Im not quite sure what youre asking---are you saying that you took the actual exam already and it didnt match what you studied? I used the Fundamentals Book-ISBN: 0 536 84321 X (got it through RUE, so dont know what it is on the 'outside') and then I also used Nursing in Todays World ISBN: 0 7817 4108 4 and Leading and Managing in Nursing ISBN: 0 323 01632 4. The later books are 1 edition earlier than the recommended reading for the content guide--together I got them for ~$17 on Ebay. I also used Studygroup101 and thats what really helped me. Good luck.

a little bit on this 33 cards. Mainly about the nursing forefounders.... I just went thru them....

Cards had nothing about Practice Acts or Organizations, Nursing degrees, communication, skills to improve nursing, cultural diveresities in nursin g, ethical/legal, roles of the RN, and supervision of care and continuity of care... Which is on the exam as per the overview from Excelsior... I'm about to read the material; waiting for it...

Best of luck....
