Transition to the Registered Professional Nurse Role-Excelsior
http://www.flashcardexchange.com/flashcards/view/683034 a little bit on this 33 cards. Mainly about the nursing forefounders.... I just went thru them.... Cards had nothing about Practice Acts or Organizations, Nursing degrees, communication, skills to improve nursing, cultural diveresities in nursin g, ethical/legal, roles of the RN, and supervision of care and continuity of care... Which is on the exam as per the overview from Excelsior... I'm about to read the material; waiting for it... Best of luck....

Advice: Unsure of continuing on to acheive RN
Don't know were ur at... Excelsior is a good program for busy bodies... I am taking the Maternity Nursing (they call it Reproductive Health) test in 2 weeks which is equivalent to Nursing Concepts 3 and 4 (they split these concept classes)... After that, I have Life Span 1, 2, & 3 (equal to Nursing Concepts 5 & 6)... I will be done with the didactic; then off to clinicals... I started this correspondance/online RN program in 2002; it's 2009... I just enrolled in Excelsior earlier this year... They allow you to take Nursing 1 and 2 w/o enrolling; and you have 7 years to complete once U enroll... Depending on ur background and college history you may not have to repeat classes... Call em at 888-647-2388 or www.excelsior.edu GOOD LUCK.......

RN to Paramedic Bridge Course
Of course the RN has more movement like a ladder... A paramedic is lateral; that is why many Medics eventually take the RN program... Longivity factor is on the RN... As the debate on who is better... There is no comparison... They are 2 different practices... In no way am I downing the RN profession... I made a suggestion to the other member on which way would be easier.... I was only giving the NY prospective.... Many people are waiting to get inot RN programs because the school is in demand..... So it would be easier to take the EMT course then the Paramedic course.... Then take the Excelsior or related programs for the RN.... EMS and Nursing are not the same and I hate when my peers compare the medic to RN and vice versa... Not the same... Thx, Alex

Excelsior RN ASN Program
All is well with the Excelsior program.... Took Chronicity on 5/26 and finished reading Reproductive Health, taking exam 6/26/09.... So far everything is falling into place.... have to take Life Span 1-3 and then I will be done w/ the Nursing courses.... Anyone know about the FCCA and CPNE? Apparently the CPNE will be $1900 and they weren't reqally clear about the FCCA.... Anyone taken this recently... Please enlighten me, thx....

Excelsior
Not so bad; I've taken Nursing Concepts 1 and 2, Chronicity, and I will take the Reprouctive Health exam in 2 weeks... After that I have to take Life Span 1, 2, and 3.... Excelsior looks at ur edu history and let you know the classes you need for you AVN/ASN.... Good luck... Not back at all.... if you ahven't started; check out bookstore online/they have cliffnotes on each course and target what you need to know; this method is a bit cheaper than taking all courses from excelsior... Check out http://www.dlsii.com/asnprogram.htm... I use them for the books and I pay excelsior the fee for the exam and I take the exam at person vue... Good luck....

Paramedic to RN
hi, I am a Paramedic in NYS; I am taking the Excelsior (https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/School_Of_Nursing) RN program via Distance Learning Systems (http://www.dlsii.com/asnprogram.htm)... Excelsior holds credentials in California.... i have an AAS in Paramedics and Excelsior took all my pre-req's.... So basically I have to take all nursin classes (8) for my ASN.... Shop around before you just enroll in Excelsior; there are cheaper alternatives.... So basically it is easier from Medic to RN than RN to medic.... For Medic you must take an EMT course first.... Then a paramedic course... I know only practitioners (NP, PA, MD, and MD) my challenge out the medic in NYS but is evaluated on a case by case... Cally, don't know.... Call the Calif EMS and local comm colleges for the RN and/medic programs... But if you decide to go w/ Medic first; you must take the EMT course first (3-6 mons) and then the medic (10 months to 1 year)... or take the RN course (certificate nurse/non degree) {1 year}... Good Luck.....

RN to Paramedic Bridge Course
you'll have to take the EMT course in your state.... After passin the EMT cert; then you can apply for the paramedic program..... That is the process; as for a bridge; each state may have their own policies; call the state EMS in your state and ask... They may want to see you qualifications... Since Paramedic and RN are different practices.... I'm doing the Paramedic to RN and I have to take all nursing classes but my clinical is not a lot; just enough to make sure I cover all nursing skills; that is the Paramedic to RN (less clinical).... RN to Paramedic may be the same depending on your background in nursing..... Good luck.....
