Should I do my CPNE in NY?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to know has anyone tested at NY Medical Center Hosptial in Queens? If so, can you tell me what your experience was like? I live in NY and this location is easier to travel to but I'm wondering if I should go upstate or even to PA? I know from my own personal experience, some NY nurses are not as friendly and I don't want to get someone who could make me even more stressed out by having a negative attitude. I know you come across good and bad personalities in any profession, but I just don't want to have to deal with anyone's negativity on a very important test. Any feedback would be great. Thanks:)

You really can't do anything about the personality of the persons testing you. You still have to perform no matter how they act. Upstate testing sites have the advantage of being in smaller, more relaxed areas. Less hustle and bustle might make it easier to relax when away from the testing site.

Go upstate. You MUST know your stuff but don't stress yourself with any avoidable BS. You CAN pass.

It doesn't matter where you go...What matters is that you know your stuff.

As for negativity... It will be all around you and it's not just in NY. Your job is to avoid/run away from the negativity. And to be honest you will problably find more negativity from te students than from the EC or hospital staff. Let's face it.... We are all high strung and basket cases when we go to CPNE. Some one could look at us with a smile on their faces and we could take it the wrong way.

I tested in NY and found it to be a wonderful experience and I am from PA.

Keep in mind that there is a reason some sites have immediate dates and some have a waiting list into next year.

Thanks all for your feedback. I was at a traditional school for nursing but the professors and students were so mean I just couldn't take it anymore. You would've thought it was high school instead of nursing school. My experience made me want to give up nursing completely. But I refuse to let that experience get me down.
