Nursing Students Online Learning

I am enrolled in the RN-MSN program at Aspen University and after finishing the first two courses I feel that this has been a great choice. If anyone out there is looking for an affordable program with solid nursing content check out Aspen. :yeah:

After some quick research it appears it commenced Aug 2010, so brand new. The other programs date back 40 years under a different name. I'm not afraid of a new program so long as the communication is in place. No one would have graduated in that time frame but I'm supposed to be hooked up with a current student to discuss the program.

This is a relatively new nursing program but the dean has many years of educational experience. Aspen has years of online educaational experience the nursing program is just a new extension of that. I am enjoying being one of the front runners. They value my imput. I have a strong sense of ownership in the program. I have value there and it is not related to my tuition. The CNCC came through recently and I was on the interview panel and the were impressed. Do not be afraid of APA it is their job to guide you. That is the whole point of going to school. If you already knew how there would be no point to higher education. I use Style Ease for 6.0 APA but still check with the APA publication. I am starting into my third course in the BSN portion and I have had good support along the way. I know that I will be able to look back and have a feeling of pride that I was here in the beginning. I buy my book online from Barnes and Nobel I belong to their program and get a great discount and they are delivered right to my door. I know that programs like University of Phoenix you have to purchase their books and they cost a fortune.

Can you elaborate on the CNCC interview? What was that all about? I'm just about ready to jump in with both feet but likely won't start until Aug. I like the rolling admission...big plus. I feel very fortunate to have found Aspen through this forum. Thank you all.

The CCNE interview consisted of approx 10 students we were all on a telephone conference call with 2-3 members of the credentialing committee. They had many questions for us about our experience at Aspen. What was reassuring for me was that everyone felt the same way I did. Everyone had positive comments. Another thing that I came to realize was that I was in a group of top notch professionals. No one was arrogant everyone had a mutual respect for each others background. It was cool. What an experience. I do not think that that would have happened elsewhere.

Specializes in Home health was tops, 2nd was L&D.

Was this CCNC interview part of getting accreditation or was it in follow-up after getting it? Do you know approximately how many are in the program? How is who gets on this board determined? Thanks for all your helpful answers.

Thank you so much! It will be a great journey...and your input here has made all the difference. I am so impressed with this program. Now to get the application materials in order. I absolutely dread the goal statement but here I go!

We are going to make a great group!

Hi nlmoore,

To answer your question, the Nursing program at Aspen is already CCNE-accredited. I know how important and arduous the accreditation process is because I direct an accredited direct-entry midwifery school. Student interviews are a critical aspect of accreditation; the accrediting agency representatives want to know that the school actually does what it purports to do. The fact that the Nursing program has received CCNE accreditation and that Aspen University is DETC-accredited (i.e., nationally accredited rather than regionally accredited) is noteworthy.

I am thrilled with my decision to attend Aspen. Emma in admissions is efficient and supportive. This is exactly what I've been searching for. Thank you all! Now I just have to be accepted. :thankya:
