Help! Starting back to school is a huge step! I'm curious as to why there aren't more nurses completing their BSN through Ohio Univ. Their tuition is VERY reasonable and the courses are completely on-line. As I wait to finalize things for enrollment I feel some concerns. My contact with them has been professional and courteous. The process is straightforward. My concern is that I rarely hear anyone mention this program. The requirements are reasonable. It seems so many people attend the much more expensive programs. Any input would be greatly appreciated...especially before I launch into this!

Thanks in advance :)

lurking... I am in the process of looking for an RN-BSN program. Do you have to attend clinicals AT ALL for Ohio? What about take statistics or chemistry? I know a lot of people are looking to avoid those things...

This link provides the course requirements. Yes, they require statistics, chemistry, micro. It's completely on-line, no clinicals. I've had all but stats so it's a little different for me. I know Indiana Wesleyan has a nice looking program as far as requirements go. there's no chemistry or statistics required but you do have to take some religion courses. . There are a lot of online programs out there. It's tough to figure out which one works best for your situation. I need statistics for grad school admission so I realize I just have to do it. Please share if you find some good info. Good luck to you!

Thank you, good luck to you, too!

Hey. I actually live about 20 miles from

One of their campuses. My wife and I

Are about to start their bsn program,

Our employer pays for it through them.

We know ALOT of people that bsn through

Them. Just about everyone does here. The

Tuition is cheap. According to everyone

It is very manageable. The courses are 5

Weeks long. Not overly difficult. You can take

2 at a time if you like in order to finish in

Half the time. And Ohio university, don't

Confuse them with Ohio state, is the oldest

School in Ohio, has a pretty good rep.

You won't regret getting it through them.

Good luck

Thanks for the great info. My main concern is the degree of difficulty of the courses in terms of working FT, kids, etc. I'm very motivated and a good time manager. I need to blast through the BSN program so I can move on to the grad program I want to attend. Do you know anyone who's taken their stats course? Thanks a bunch!

Everyone I know passed stats. From what

I hear most of the courses feel like busy work

With a manageable degree of difficulty. Youll

Be fine.

Well if the stats is doable... Maybe I will apply and see what I would have to take other than that. :) It is so affordable.... Really you can't beat it. I can't see me spending an extra $10,000 just to get out of stats. Has anyone taken the chemistry? Will I have to take chem? I took a 3 credit course at the community college, but do they require the lab? I dread that more than statistics. :lol2:

You can call the school of nursing at 704-593-4494. I hear they are fairly generous with transfer of credits. It does not specify if a chem lab is required. All of my transcripts have arrived so I'll be getting an evaluation of those within about 2 weeks. I can let you know what I learn. In the mean time I would visit their website and call the nursing dept directly with your specific questions. Getting those answers up front will help you narrow down your choices. Let us know what you decide. I dread stats but I will likely take it all by itself and FOCUS, get tutoring if needed, etc. WE CAN DO THIS!

Yes, I have an ADN and a BS in an unrelated field. Never had stats though! I hope you find a program that suits you.:nurse:
