New to College Network...anyone else?

Like to find out if anyone is new to College Network or has had sometime with their study guides? I'm working on sociology and have other prereqs to complete before the nursing concepts.

On the issue of nursing concepts 1-7, why doesn't the LVN courses of med/surg, maternal health and psych count in our credits? Why are we having to repeat the courses? Is the concepts courses more advanced for the ADN program with Excelsior?

Need to have some encouragement and advice. Thanks to all you fellow nurses.

I'm new to college network too. signed yesterday..got the lifespan psychology guide...it is informative...one thing I liked about the college network is that if I can't pass tests the second time around, they will pay for a tutor to help. It may cost more than some other programs, but it fits me for now convenience and family wise, and I am used to working hard for anything I accomplish anyhow, don't expect it to ever get different. :nurse:

I am also new to College Network, found out today just how much more I was paying for their study guides. Really ticked me off. What I would like is more feedback on how others are doing with this program.

I also choose it for the payment options. But another important thing to know is how well do they work with Excelsior when you get to the point of enrolling with them.

Any info you guys have is appreciated.

I am getting ready to take my sociology test. The first one! I am a little nervous. Is the test in the back alot like the exam? Would appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks

Just wanted to know if you passed the sociology exam? I am due to take the test soon. Any advice?

I am really irritated with the program. I took the test for nurse concepts one and did not pass the test. I will try again soon....

Yeah I passed the exam. It was alot more in depth than I originally thought it would be. I remembered a couple of the questions, and I went back to try to find it in the guide and could not find it anywhere. Just go pretty in depth. Good luck to you on your test!! let me know how you did!?!

make sure that you are all aware that college network, like many others, is just a publishing company-they provide u study materials to help u study to pass tests. they are not connected with ec at all. it will be completely up to u to enroll at ec, pay their fees, take your tests, your clinical, grad fees, etc etc. also, download the free content guide for each ec test that u take and make sure u have gone over every item on it-i found my study guides (i used a diff company-didn't know better not to sign up back then!) lacked info that was covered in the tests and in the content guide. Yes, a lot of the info is review from school (lvn/lpn)-but hey, how much do we really absorb the first time thru anyway? i just used it as a good review.

happy studying everyone! one baby step at a time and u will be there!:)

Ok I was fooled the rep came to my home I had a list of questions written down to get answers to. Question #2 was what if something happens in my life to keep me from completing this program with TCN his reply was "As long as the boxes of guides are not open you can send them back there is no problem with that". Well lo and behold this is not working many factors right now in my life and current job, so-o-o-o I called TCN explained all this and the man on the phone kept saying over and over "you had three days to cancel" he answered that each and every time I ask another question or tried to explain something. Ok I send the rep an e-mail two weeks ago and no response not that I expected one but I tried. Last week I get a notice from them they are adding two more study guides and I needed to sign the paper and send it back so it can be added to my loan. Today I called a lawyer and submitted the contract to him for review, I really do not expect to win but I want something done even if I get the two study guides to go away. Also they have a thing with ISU because that is where they have me finishing my BSN when I mentioned Excelsior he kept saying no that isn't where you want to go. To say irritated would be way to passive I will keep you guys informed of any progress, this is definitely a big rip off. Deb K

I think they can't use your Nursing and Med Surg..from LVN because of the actual amount of time spent on these. Its all about college credit with an RN. The RN has a vast amount of theory and in depth knowledge of those courses..LVN/LPN just skimmed the service.

I am currently with College Network too. I have been hearing different things about them but for me this is the only way to go. I'm taking Microbiology at the moment.

Good luck in your studies!

Sounds like you got a bad Rep. I was told I had 3 days to cancel. When I asked about what happens if life gets too busy she gave me I thought a pretty good answer..its at your own pace..go as fast or as slow as you want..the courses never expire..the only ones that have a time limit are the nursing ones..as it should be..those are good for five years. I know I read my contract and everything I signed carefully and it matched what the rep said.

She also steered me to Excelsior...but from what I'm hearing from everybody is that you could enroll with excelsior on your own...in fact the Rep made it clear that they were not really connected with them...She said College Network is just a publishing company. You have to enroll in Excelsior on your own.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience.

Specializes in telemetry, med surg, LTAC.

Has anyone finished the LPN to ADN from excelsior or the LPN to BSN from ISU thru the college network? How was it? Were the clinical sites hard to find? And how do you find one?

I am getting ready to take my sociology test. The first one! I am a little nervous. Is the test in the back alot like the exam? Would appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks

Good luck on your test. I just purchased the study guide and for the last two nights have tried to get started reading sociology, however I can't make it past the first 3 pages without falling asleep. I'm really concerned as to how the heck I'm going to make it through this material. I'm using the college network guide. PS: I did not sigh up with them directly thank goodness because I'm starting to wonder whether or not I should be sitting in a class room for subjects like this. Any thoughts?

I did not study in depth enough for the test. I passed it, but don't just scan the material. I recall alot of names and dates in the exam. Good Luck! You can do it!!! Now I am psycology! It reminds me of sociology alot. :wink2:
