New to College Network...anyone else?

Nursing Students Online Learning

Like to find out if anyone is new to College Network or has had sometime with their study guides? I'm working on sociology and have other prereqs to complete before the nursing concepts.

On the issue of nursing concepts 1-7, why doesn't the LVN courses of med/surg, maternal health and psych count in our credits? Why are we having to repeat the courses? Is the concepts courses more advanced for the ADN program with Excelsior?

Need to have some encouragement and advice. Thanks to all you fellow nurses.

Hello all,

I am new to The College Network. So far it seems pretty good. I am working on my first guide Lifespan Psychology. I like the fact the I can call and ask questions to academic support. It is also nice to be able to talk to others completing the same program. Any advice from all of you out there who are working toward or who have completed a program through the college network would be appreciated. I have seen both positive and negative things said about them.

i am new to the college network,,, signed up about a month ago. i am working on nusing concepts 1. pretty slow going so far,,, need to get my butt in gear. i am a little worried now though,,, i have just read so many negative things about them. hope i made the right decision.

Congratulations on almost completing the program, how fast did you work on it, or how much time did you devote, how long has it taken you and is it harder than LPN school? Questions that are eating me up, please answer and thanks in advance!!!!

No I haven't taken the Technical Writing dantes yet, any advice for it. Also I was wondering can anyone out there tell me if they really read all the material in the college network study guides or is it better to just study the end of the chapter questions and know the material in the practice test. I really need help with all of this I have been out of school for a long time and I need some kind of guidance. Thanking you all in advance for your help. Tuckeroo

Hello there, I am in the same boat it sounds like. I just did the sociology CLEP test and yes, I got books from the college network, I honest to God thought they were affiliated with Excelsior college and represented what Excelsior wanted me to have. DUH, I feel like such a fool now. But I didn't know, live and learn, I guess. I did not feel their sociology book came close to preparing me for that exam. I had that darn book memorized!!! The wording on the test was different and there were many many questions that I had to guess at that I'd never heard of. I just pray that the rest of the study guides that I do have from them will prepare me better for those course exams. I am working on English Comp right now, then it will be either A&P or microbiology. I would appreciate any suggestions for study materials for A&P, and literature.

I would advise caution in using someone other than a reputable and credited college. I feel I have gotten burned in some areas and enrolled in my local RN program which went much more smoothly. I wish you luck in your endeavors.

For all using distance learning, particularly some of the ones mentioned in the thread..I have a word of advice....do make sure you contact the university and find out what their acceptable scores are for the exams. Some of their required scores are higher than the ACE score that is considered passing . No one ever mentioned this to me and I was in a for a big surprise when I thought I had did very on one exam, and then got the letter from ISU that my score was not high enough, even though I had surpassed the ACE score. Believe me..it is not true that that the ACE score printout that some companies give you is acceptable to a university to get credit. Always call the institution.
