I am and LPN and just started my studying for my RN through College Network.

Any advice or help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

My youngest starts daycare on Jan 7th then the REAL studying begins!!!!

But I have done online courses before and I am ready and have the determination but advice and hints can't hurt.

Tks,

Angie

I will actually be going through Excelsior after I pass all of my study guides through College Network.

Does anyone have any suggestions or helpful hints?

Anyone need a study partner?

Any of you who have been through this I would appreciate any type of feedback you can give me.

Thanks,

Angie

I take it no one has gone through the College Network????

Well, my hint would have been not to use them.

Just do the work and the reading.

yes i wish i would have been able to access an before i made my decision and gotten the words/advice of my fellow nurses.:o

but i had no computer or computer access. so i am pretty much stuck.

i thought i had done enough research by calling different places and getting information that i had mad a good decision but guess not:angryfire

so was hoping that maybe someone out there has had to go through them and had some more information that might help.

thanks so much for your advice

Same suggestion.

DO THE READING. DON'T PROCRASTINATE.

And good luck!

Angie, I used a couple of their study guides that I purchased on eBay -- I read their guides for A&P and Microbiology, and they seemed okay. Some people like their guides; others don't. Hopefully you find that their materials are good enough.

How many courses do you have to take besides the nursing exams? You can take the first nursing exam without enrolling with Excelsior, but you have to enroll with Excelsior (which costs about $900) before you can move on to your second nursing exam (which is really the third exam -- LPNs/LVNs can waive the actual second exam).

But Sue's advice is dead-on -- do the reading and don't procrastinate! Good luck. :)

i just have my nursing exams to do. i have no prereqs. i am already and lpn so that really helped with what courses i had to take. i try to get in at least 5-7 hours of studying a week right now.

dh has been out of state d/t his mother passing away. once he is home i will be able to get more study time in.

thanks for the advice i really appreciate it.

I know an RN who did the College network, she is a fine nurse. I have been going to U of Phoenix and I just am so tired of their learning teams and such. I am now going to attend the College Network to get my ADN and then just be done for a couple of years. Some say go for the BSN but I say do what you want, with the nursing shortage ADN or BSN does not matter so much. The College Network does not seem so expensive when compared to UoP.
