GCU RN to BSN capstone course

Good golly, I have gone through GCUs entire program with no difficulty. This capstone course requires a 'mentor' and it is literally taking a ridiculous amount of my time setting up paperwork and documentation they require after going through numerous local contacts with which the school has an 'affiliation' that the facilities know nothing about. Has anybody else had this issue with the capstone course at GCU? I'm about fed up which is sad because it's my last class.

I finished the newer Capstone class and I would have to say that the paper itself is the easiest part of the class. The other documentation was VERY confusing. I routinely asked the professor if he would supply a sample of the documentation and that helped tremendously. That weird ISP document was very strange - not sure what it was supposed to accomplish, and using the Appendix section did not make much sense either. The other documentation was not so bad.

Best of luck!

I start the capstone next week. This tread is scarring me a little! can someone send me a PM with the instructor you liked or stay away from. Also the ISP does not make any sense! I would much appreciate some guidance and will pass it on when I complete it.

I am just starting this 10 week capstone. Any recommendations for professors. And what actually are we supposed to be doing at our site?

I am currently finishing week 4 of the final capstone class. The instructor that I have offers little guidance even with many questions the first couple of weeks being posted in the the forum. Since then, questions have decreased and everyone is muddling through the abundance of busy work. Personally, I would have preferred they kept this with the five week program. That being said, we are still awaiting our grades from over a week ago (yes we have timelines and have to follow them, however instructors do too and this one does not meet their requirements of returning grades within one week of submission) so it slows you down and makes it difficult to move ahead as each piece builds on the next. Looking forward to being done!

I was fortunate, that I was in the old Capstone class and don't recall having any issues of profs not grading fast enough. I think a few barely read the work, but they graded easy, so wasnt an issue, lol I believe its in the student handbook in how fast they have to grade, and if they are out of that timeframe, it is prob best to speak to ur adviser. If ur happy with ur marks though, best to let it slide and complain at the end. I think a few Profs do these online classes simply for the $$$$$, they dont have much interaction with the class....and they have many classes going at 1 time....all about the $$ and not really instructing. good luck

I am so stressed out with this capstone class. It is my first week and the paperwork is ridiculous. And the weekly journal, what exactly is that all about? I wish I would have finished this degree years ago so I wouldn't be in this 10 week hell.

Can you email me, I have questions. Im in week 4 and this is NUTS! nmrainmann at ya who

would you mind sending me an email me, I am also very lost with regards to what is due for this capstone!!! I am in my 4th weeks and this is somethin else! nmrainmann at ya who. I would appreciate anyone that can help feel free to mail me!!!

I did several times and I received the please see the resource tab/ instructions contained with in the assignment itself. I spoke with my useless adviser and hit a dead end.

Thats a little frustrating......my 1 disappointment with the GCU program was with my last adviser ( I had like 4 of them) She was useless and that is putting it nicely. I was in the old capstone class and have no clue about the new 10 week program, sorry. Have u tried privately emailing the proff and explain ur still confused. I think some of these profs are clueless as well as I get a feeling they do not get a lot of training about the syllabus..so they can't really answer the questions....Hang in there

Flames9... I agree completely with your statement of having some instructors who are very engaged with the class and others who are just passing time for what seems to be the paycheck. Officially half way done at the end of today and can see the prize being waved in front of me. Although a decent grader and having a solid A in the class, the frustrations remain and will be shared on the final review for the instructor. Also, we do receive another survey about our overall experience with GCU. I have yet to refer any of my coworkers or friends to complete this program.
