I looked at Hawaii's BON website and could find nothing in regard to Excelsior. Anyone out that way gone the Excelsior route, or does anyone know if they accept it? I am fairly certain that I'll be making a move there once I obtain my RN, I'm just wanting to go the Excelsior route so I don't have to wait so long to get started on the LPN-RN. Thanks for any input!

I'm not sure, but I would first call EC and ask them. They have a pretty good working knowledge of what is going on with the BON's. I personally wouldn't call the BON, first b/c you may wind of speaking to someone that has no idea, and tells you whatever. Good luck!!!...

Sorry but the BON will always be the expert. You might need to make sure your asking the right question. Although Excelsior can give you good information, the BON of the state you looking into has the final say in anything.

True, they are the final say, but calling EC first will give you a good idea of what's going on at the moment b/c EC has people that live in states with some kind of restriction sign a release before enrollment (like me), to cover themselves so they won't get sued. In the release they notify you of all restrictions as of that date in your state.

Also, when you talk to them first they can usually point you in the right direction (i.e. names, numbers, and extensions) of people that do have the most current info at the BON, b/c these are their contacts. I personally feel, that is a better route than trying to get some receptionist at the BON, to understand what I am talking about, only to be transferred to others, who have no clue.

Hawaii accepts EC without any problems.

I emailed the Hawaii Board of Nursing and they said that they recognize Excelsior College

I took the NCLEX under Hawaii due to WA having issues with Excelsior. It was no problem for me and Hawaii, however. In my experience they were a bit slow in processing things though.
