Brand New to Nursing : Where do I start?

I am 26 and have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I want to switch to a career in nursing. I have no idea of where to start. I may have a job opportunity where they will pay for me to take the CNA courses and get that licensure, but I have no idea where to go from there! I get lost in all the abbreviations. Can anyone offer any suggestions?? Also, online programs with supplemental clinicals would be best for me right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

There are quite a few posts on this distance ed thread about online/distance RN programs. I would encourage you to do a search as there is a wealth of discussions. If you have specific questions I would be happy to help in any way I can.

Since you already have a bachelors degree like I do, I would look into a BS to BSN program. You can usually complete the program in 12 to 18 months. Not only do you get your RN license, but you also have your bachelors in nursing (BSN).

You can check local universities for a program. Or you could try the online program at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. However, that program is available only to students in states where the BON approved it. You can check their program at:
