I have been a labor and delivery LPN for many years and now furthering my education to become an RN through excelsior, does anyone have any advice on the exams?

Good luck to you.

Check out our Distance Learning forum. Several EC students here.

I'm going thru for the second time, the first time it was easier b/c I was also in a traditional program, and was learning most of the material from my traditional classes. Now the second time around, and more than ten yrs later, it is harder b/c I have to stay focused and am not in "school mode". I found on the last test I took, I studied test prep books (by going over as many ?'s as possible) on the subject matters of the test and did well on the test. Hope this idea helps.

I swear by and always take the online practice exams for each nursing concepts exam that excelsior offers on their website. You can't beat the price, either (60 bucks). Some of the questions on the actual exam are identical to the ones I've had on the actual test. Take the online practice exams and then study the rationales they give you for your wrong answers and you'll have a huge leg up.

Thanks for the info unfortunately I was a little late getting messages as I had purchased my nursing concept books fromTCN ( only to find out this was a big mistake, as the materials I studied were completely different than the exams) I don't see how the TCN can get away with that I spent $3,500.00 on the books nc1-7. Very discouraged at the moment, but I will pick up again and get on the right track. I have been an LPN for 22 years and work in Labor and Delivery, have been a single parent and needed to raise my daughters first and now it is moms turned and I am determined, ifyou have any suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks!!!!

I agree with another poster - if you want to know what the test will be like, get it from the horse's mouth - excelsior. It's not cheap - sixty bucks, but you'll make that back in no time when you're an RN!
