Which state is it easier to get accepted for nursing school with a felony or crim rec

I have been doing my pre-req's for about two years now. Yes, I am a recoving addict, with a felony and also with a DUI/sleeping medication. Nursing is what I want to do. I actually want to work in crisis centers with juviniles and I would like to help them before they do what I did, I am now in my 40's. My felony is actually a burglary, I opened someones car and took 21cents when I was hungry. Yes is was wrong, I was actively using, and very sick at the time. I do have awesome letters of reference , one from a police officer, and one from my pastor. The letters will be given to me when I am needing them. I have heard that there are certain states are are more lenient on getting into the schools then others. I am now in Georgia. My felony was in Florida and my family is in Philly. Does anyone have any advice for me? My GPA is a 4.0, and has remained there, I work hard and will not give up, unless God re-directes my path to do so.
thanks so much

I don't think it's easier in any state.

As stated in your duplicate previous thread, you need to direct your questions to the
Board of the state where you expect to be licensed. Please don't ask members to violate the TOS.

I've moved your thread to our Nursing Licensure With A Criminal History forum.
Check thread at top of forum Nursing Licensure With A Criminal History as i've added some links re what nursing schools are requiring.

More and more nursing programs are requring criminal background checks at the start of programs since clinical sites are required to have clearances that are Medicare certified or care for children. This should be investigated before you go further in classes if reuired my nursing programs in your area. I am unaware of any state being leiner than others. Additionally, this prevents schools being accused of accepting student they know would not be eligible for licensure.

GA now requires background check ---so does NJ. See GA: http://sos.georgia.gov/plb/rn/faqs_legal.pdf

PA BON does not require backgroud checks for licensure but uses screening questions on exam to require further info. Most schools in Phialdlephia area schools requiring background check; know my employer home health agency doesn't permit students without clearance to visit patients.
