Just Want to Vent a Little...

So I just need to vent a little, things are getting me down right now and I would love some encouragement. In 2005 I got in trouble for having a dirty house. I was convicted of Criminal Mistreatment I, a felony. My son, who was one and a half at the time, went to live with my Grandparents while his dad and I straightened things out. He was there for about three months before I got full custody back, and DHS was gone. I left his father shortly after that, as it was an extremely abusive relationship that was no good for us. I have been clean ever since and things have been great! I was on probation for three years and finished with flying colors. I was mislead by my court-appointed attorney, I thought I would be able to get my record expunged once I was done with probation. Well, of course that was not true. I WAS able to have the felony reduced to a misdemeanor, but since it is a 'child abuse' crime, I was unable to get it expunged. I have since hired my own attorney and we went to try for a pardon from the Governor. While filling out that paperwork, I found something like a loophole that will let me get my record expunged as long as the Court cannot prove that I should not be granted it. Three months ago the DA told me they would have an answer on my case. To date we have nothing. Last year I applied to a program, and ended up being alternate #2, while my friend was #1. She got in but I did not, which ended up working out since this is taking so long. I applied again this year and got in. I am running out of time and patience. I have to have some news within the next month and a half before the background checks are ran. If I do not get the expungment I want to give the alternate that takes my spot time to prepare. I am just really frustrated by everything right now. My prerequisite GPA is 4.0 and cumulative is 3.89. I have worked my butt off to provide a wonderful life for my son. I know that everything happens for a reason and I am well prepared if this does not work the way I envision it, but I just want to know at this point. I am so tired of waiting. Sorry to bore you all, I just had to get it out. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

congrats, but be aware that the expungement, if it happens wont mean anything to the board....dont know if a pardon will.....ask an attorney that deals with the board
