Nurses Criminal

Hi Everybody,

Well, here is my story!! Finish LVN school in May 10,I received a letter from BON of Texas stating that my file was sent to enforcement dept. I called right after sending realizing that I should have said"yes" that I had 2 past charges. In 1996, I was in abusive relationship and I called the police due do it my situation, I told them to take me because I threw a cordless phone and hit my boyfriend on the knee. I did anger class and got a protective order over him, so I thought this case was his problem. In 2001, I got a bad check of due to closing bank account and, it took the county 10 months to find me. I was never notified by anyone that I had that outstanding, so I was very surprised when the police told me about a outstanding warrent. Anyways, I have been waiting for three months and all the response I get is it is in review. Three weeks ago, they told me that I will have discplinary action before I will be able to test. i feel that they are putting me on a rollercoaster ride. Why can't they just tell me about the process. I feel that I have done my time and paid my dues and I should not have to pay again.

I would love to hear any other persons experiences w/ BON of Texas. Is there any hope? Will this ever end?

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

If you're looking for hope, be assured that the Texas Board of Nursing has issued licenses to people with blemishes on their criminal histories. However, there's no way that we can predict what they'll do in your situation. I wish you the best of luck.

Do you know if the Georgia Board of Nursing has issued licenses to people with blemishes on their criminal histories???

What ever happened with your case?

Specializes in Medical Surgical/Addiction/Mental Health.

I am not sure about other states, but licensure information is public record in Indiana. You can visit your BON website and search for board minutes. Read through them to answer your question as to whether or not the board, in the past, has granted licensure to someone with blemishes.
