Hi all,

I went to the Florida BoN website and found the info regarding criminal history. (this link: http://floridasnursing.gov/forms/convict-record-guidelines.pdf) But I am not understand what "Clear?" and "Application to Board?" columns mean.

Can someone clarify?

Clear means clear background check. To use one of their examples, if you were a sex offender, you would not CLEAR a background check.

Gotcha.

So what does "application to board? No" mean?

In Florida, the people processing the application use that as a guide whether to clear you to be licensed. If you are clear, then you do not have to be reviewed by the board. And once you meet the requirements will be able to take your NCLEX and move forward. If you are not clear, then the board meeting would have to review your application. Where you may be denied. It is pretty cool though, I was told by they that they do not add stipulations or restrictions if you are in the clear column either.

Application to board is bad. Application to board, no, means that your application can be cleared by the people that process your application in office, and does not have to go through a board meeting to be approved.

Thanks so much!

I'm confused in the section for applicants with criminal history it say:

Completion of Probation/Parole/Sanctions – Probation and financial sanction records for offenses can be obtained at the clerk of the court in the arresting jurisdiction. Parole records for offenses can be obtained from the Department of Corrections or at the clerk of the court in the arresting jurisdiction. If the records are not available, you must have a letter on court letterhead sent from the clerk of the court attesting to their unavailability.

but in the chart above it says DUI's with one time factor will clear regardless of time factor.

Do I have to be off criminal court probation for DUI before being able to apply ? ( I just started criminal court probation in march 2015 for 3 years in California)

I imagine you'd have to call the board and ask. You can do so anonymously.
