Nurses Criminal

I was told by the nursing school that I was applying to that the rules have changed for the BON in July. When I go onto the BON site there is nothing on there that states these changes. The head of the nursing program said because I have felony (not drugs) that I will have to wait 15 years to be able to go to school and apply for a license in Florida.
Just wondering what is going on here. According to the BON website its the same rules - you can apply for clearance to take the NCLEX.
Any clarification would be great!
Thanks

Have you tried checking out the Florida state forum as I remember a few threads discussing this issue last year?

It changed this year. We were required to sign a document acknowledging that we have been informed of the change.
It is true. You cannot become a nurse (or any other licensed medical professional) in the state of Florida until your felony conviction is older than 15 yrs.

It depends on the charges. Look into it. Medicare fraud/Drug charges/elderly abuse. Other felonies are case by case basis. The first few I posted require the 15 year waiting period.
