Nurses Criminal

Ok, I have 66 credits already. I would like to go ahead and start nursing classes in March. I want to become a registered nurse, the thing is I was convicted of a misdemeanor assault in 2007, as well as a trespassing in 2008. Other then that I have a couple of driving while suspended. I want to know if this will disqualify me. It's been about 7 years since these serious charges.

I'm not sure if your question violates this website's TOS, but I would definitely recommend you contact your state board of nursing. They are the only ones who can give you a definitive answer.

You need to consult with your school, the board of nursing and/or an administrative law attorney that has experience with the board of nursing. No one can tell you for definite. The school may be aware of the policies of your potential clinical sites that may not accept you with a conviction. The board of nursing MAY be able to tell you if you are automatically disqualified with an assault conviction.
