Just a question...I finished my LPN school and on my application I did not disclose 3 records from 1995-2000. In that five years (which was a bad time for me) I received a DUI, worthless check, disorderly conduct, driving on suspended, and three other DUI's which were dismissed but still showed on the background check. My DON at my college said the BON is hitting me hard because I didn't disclose all records first go round. In order to test in OK (I live in Kansas and was told by my college that I HAD to test in OK) once I become licensed I will have a "severely reprimanded" license (before i'm even a nurse), 1,000 in administrative penalties, and complete a four hour nursing coorifice. I signed the Stipulations, Settlement Order. Now, come to find out, I can test for Kansas and apply to Kansas. Since i'm not even a nurse yet, do I have to report this on my application to Kansas?

You need a lawyer, yes you do need to report those. What made you think that you did not need to disclose these to the BON? I am not being sarcastic, but am really wondering.

I am going through a similar situation but hired a lawyer and my application packet was hundreds of pages. I'm surprised that they are even giving you a consent agreement when it looks like you lied by not disclosing that important information. My school did not tell me that I was going to have trouble I did my own research anticipating that I would. You need a lawyer now, before you sign anything, before you apply to a different board.

I didn't lie...since they were dropped I didn't think I would have to disclose those charges. At any rate, I already signed the order and these charges were 15-20 years ago. Since I'm not even a nurse yet...I was just asking if that order will be good since i'm not testing (for the first time) in that state. I know I have to disclose records. I'm just asking if I have to check the box on the application where its asks if I have been disciplined by the board????

I do realize I need to report my records to any board on an application.

If you are unsure then I would check yes, or even put a question mark with the saying "see explanation on seperate sheet", and then attach an explanation.

You must disclose all of it when asked. That being said, even if Kansas' application doesn't ask that stuff, now that you have applied in OK, it will probably be in NURSYS. They check NURSYS as well--it is nation wide.

That's what also happened to me with this board!! But I'm going to stand before them in September, but I already applied to Texas.. You will have to tell Kansas everything now!! If you didn't sign the order you wouldn't have had to tell them,, I'm sorry

That sucks that your school is making you test in OK. Also, weird. The KS BON is probably one of the more lenient boards in the US.

Just checking in. I took the NCLEX Tuesday, the 27 and I am proud to say that I am a LPN! I PASSED!!!

Now, I have to endorse into Kansas. I take my Jurisprudence class Sept 5th and have saved a grand to give to the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.

Next step: Endorse into Kansas (where I reside. I am on the border of OK and KS). My next question: If Kansas denies me endorsement into my own state, will that affect my license in OK?

I know someone that went through a similar situation. It is always very very important to disclose exactly what happened in your past. When it comes down to it, they are very understanding. As long as a person is upfront and honest. Honesty is a big factor. If they find something that was not disclosed, they will deny no matter what. A person can have a past that is a mile long, however, they are very understanding if you just explain each situation and explain how you have changed and what helped you change.
