Hello.

I am very worried about the letter i received in the mail today. I took my nclex december 30 of 2010 and got the good popup all the way through. Today I received the following letter:

"You have passed the examination for licensure as a vocational nurse (NCLEX/PN). However, the processing of your license application will be delayed until the Board has completed an evaluation of your conviction records. Upon completion of this evaluation, you will be notified of the status of your applicaiton for licensure. If you have anu questions, you may contact ****, Enforcement Analyst; at *******"

Is a letter that everyone receives after taking the NCLEX or is this something I should be very worried about. I tried calling but its Saturday today. I am so worried right now.

Have you declared any issues like previous convictions to the state when you applied for your license?

yes. the only incident i had was a speeding ticket and i declared that of course. i dont have any felonies or anything like that :(

Have you ever been convicted of a crime, including drunk driving? If you have they investigate each case. Depending on the crime, you might be ok. It could take several weeks for a review.

no. no drunk driving! do you think they would take several weeks to investigate a speeding ticket?

I think you will find that that is enough for the BON to decide to investigate and make a decision. You have no other choice but wait for their decision

Depending on how fast you were going, it may have been a felony. In my state, speeding more than 20 mph over the posted speed limit is considered reckless driving, which is a felony.

I don't know what state you live in, but some speeding tickets are considered "felonies". Like excessive speed (more that 80mph) is considered reckless driving and is a felony in most states. It all depends on the circumstances surrounding the conviction. There is not much to do but wait it out, you can call on Monday, but I'm sure they won't give you much infomation. Sorry this isn't what you wanted to hear.

I was riding my motorycle 92 in a 65 zone (Mojave desert). The CHP gave me a ticket, and on the ticket he only checked off misdemeanor speeding. He told me that if he wanted to he could charge me with reckless driving and have my bike impounded and license revoked but he chose not to. That was probably 4 years ago.

I really hope i dont get denied over this. I did delcare it and I did attach a copy of the ticket as well. No more traffic tickets after that...learned my lesson

Just a speeding ticket? Was your speeding in excess of 20 mph over the speed limit? That is reckless endangerment in my state, and it carries a bigger penalty.

I'm interested in hearing if others with only speeding tickets under 20 mph in excess of the speed limit on their record get delayed also.

ETA: I see everyone is asking the same question, and you answered it. I think your situation is a bit different than "just a speeding ticket." Wait it out.

It doesn't matter that the cop could have charged you with reckless driving, it is only important if he did or not. Even if you were 'guilty' of reckless driving, you were never charged with it, just as someone could be 'guilty' of murder but never face charges.

I think you'll be okay.

Well if you guys are curious, I came across a thread where someone had a similar problem: https://allnurses.com/lpn-lvn-corner/lvn-license-application-474019.html According to this, it looks like speeding tickets like this (even simple ones) cause an unfortunate delay. The sad part is the members that received this letter all waited 6 months to hear from the boards. Although all the members there say they received the license...6 months is just an awful time to wait in the dark.
