Nurses Job Hunt
Published Jul 21, 2013
Any new grad/inexperienced nurse-friendly states out there? Looking to relocate just to get a job. Cali is dried up for new grads.

It's that bad in WA? Man, I was almost gonna endorse in WA...
Small cities that are not very attractive? I just passed my NCLEX and will be endorsing my license to other states, and applying to those "less attractive small cities" :)I don't own the house, no kids, husband is willing to relocate as well... I am from WA and I am looking for jobs even in New Mexico!

What about South Dakota now? Especially in the Sioux Falls area. I'm keeping my options open as far as moving because I think now is the time to have an adventure and pick somewhere else to live. Wisconsin isn't bad for new grads (where I currently am) but I think that moving somewhere else might be kind of fun and my husband and son are totally on board!

I relocated to WV from MN for my first nursing job. MN seemed to be hiring experienced nurses over new grads, and I wanted the adventure too! Kind of a strange adventure, and yeah it was pretty hard, but my boyfriend moved here for a nursing job first, so that's made it a lot easier. At the beginning of the summer, there were lots of positions open, but now most floors have lots of new grads starting. Pay is $21/hr, but I'm here for the experience, and hopefully someday I'll be makin the big bucks somewhere else to pay off my gargantuous student loans.

Since I've been licensed, I've gotten calls for interviews in WV & NC. I'm in the DC Metro area & it's bad. Somehow I think they're giving preference to those that are out of state? Lol.

I graduated in Massachusetts in May 2008, and moved to Vermont for my first job in March 2009. Quite a few of my nursing school classmates left the state for their first job; one moved to Missouri, one moved to Connecticut, one moved to Pennsylvania.
