Finally!!! An interview!

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

i finally have an interview, and a nibble for a new grad program at the same hospital system. it's taken 3 years of constantly applying to various places, including this one.

i am cautiously optimistic and trying not to get my hopes up, but to get to this point is something i had almost given up on. the position is on a cardiac/telemetry unit, something i have prior lpn experience on. but i need to emphasize my desire to learn and grow as an rn first and foremost.

time to dust off my interview clothes and review interview questions.

I paid someone top do mine because while in a couple of interviews the hiring managers told me they had to tweek my resume. As soon as I got it professionally done I got tons of call backs and I have 4 job offers right now as we speak!

No it's not greedy. The way I see it if your good enough for hospital A then your good enough for ALL the hospitals =D

Best part is, if I can get that other interview it's for the same hospital system. But I'm just glad to have an interview at all.

I couldn't afford to have mine professionally done, but did have the career advisor at my university look at it and tweek it. I have also had nurse recruiters look at it and say there was never anything wrong with it.

Congratz wow 3 years I admire your tenacity! I was getting depressed after receiving no results for 3 months of job search. Do well, slepe prepare, plan to arrive 1 hr earlier than appt time so you have a buffer for unexpected situations just don't go in until the 10 min mark, sit in your car or some cafe outside. Prepare to answer scenarios, case studies, conflict, and why should we hire you, Good luck!

Since it's going to be about 100 degrees Friday and my suit is of course long sleeved, I plan on getting there early enough to cool off and freshen up in the bathroom. It doesn't matter how fresh you were when you left all freshly showered and deoderized, but an hour drive even with a/c in the car means a quick freshen up.

Good news is I am very familiar with this employer because I've worked for them before. I need to show them that I really enjoyed my time there and like the opportunities for personal advancement they have.

the interview went very well. i arrived a little early because it was a hot today and i wanted to give myself time to cool off a bit. the manager ended up running 15 minutes late, which was ok with me. allowed me to get myself more settled. i was practically offered the job on the spot. the manager said that she was "very impressed with my resume and clinical experience" and "wanted to meet me". these the first things she said once the interview started, bodes well yes?

i'm so happy right now. i'll be working 7p-7a on cardiac/telemetry(tcu).

Congratulations!

thanks mangopeach, it's been a long time coming.

i'm racking my brain trying to figure out what i need to review, not that i have any telemetry or cardiac books. i also need to find my stuff, which i think is in storage. if it is i'm going to need a new stethoscope :sniff: as it's been exposed to terribly high temps. i also need new scrubs since this particular hospital system has now color coordinated their nurses.

you know the sad part is, part of me isn't going to actually believe i have the job until i'm attending the first day of orientation.
