Misdemeanors in past, finally an RN, can't get a job :(
Sweetheart sometimes it takes a while to find a job trust me I know. People automatically think oh I'm a nurse I can get a job tomorrow. True in some situations but not all. I myself thought that moved to Georgia in November and just got a job in August. I had put in hundreds and hundreds of resumes. Had excellent references, job stability, 5 yrs. Experience, and I have a clean record never been in trouble and it was still difficult. Now for a while I did work PRN but I needed something full-time to support my family. No call backs for a while and then in June-July everyone started calling me for an interview but no one was offering me the position. I was down and starting to give up which isn't like me but feeling like why wont anyone give me a chance. I prayed, prayed, and prayed and continued to never loose faith and finally I got that one phone call hip hip hooray!!!!! Thank you Jesus!!!!! You're going to get a million NO's but all it takes is that one YES! You may just be over thinking the whole thing, the nursing fieeld is very competitive also you don't know HR's hiring procedures yes they ahave jobs posted but they could very well already be filled or looking to promote within the company first! My job is still posted and I have been working for over a month now. Also if you have never been convicted of a felony I hope you are not putting your past run ins with the law on your application. Stay strong my fellow RN I have faith in you and remember it only takes that one YES! i wish you nothing but the best and yiur time is coming. Goodluck!

Applied for tons of jobs but no call backs (Georgia)
Hi onegoodnerve, before I relocated to Georgia (Atlanta) I put tons of applications in and we finally moved I continued to put applications in I got my Georgia license and a temp agency called me within two weeks of me being here but that cam to an end in April. But even while working the temp RN position I continued to put applications in everyday and even up until this job. I have had nurses tell me that's why they aren't working as a nurse because they can't find employment because it's so copetitive here in Georgia they have so many Nursming schools and everyone graduates at the same time. Yes, they have tons of openings but aren't doing any hiring so of those same jobs that were posted before I got here are still posted. The only places that want to hire you are temp agencies and travel nursing I can't do travel nursing I have a husband and a 13 month old son. I went on this one interview and they asked me how much I was seeking to be paid and I said $27-30/hr and she said you're going to have to come down because no ones going to pay you that much, I was like excuse me. Mind you I was making that in Indiana (a small town at a small hospital) this is a BIG city and they don't want to pay plus I have tons of experience and the job offer I excepted I am making in the price range I quoted her. But thank GOD I never gave up I was almost at that point even though I didn't have to work I wanted to because I didn't spend 4 yrs. in college for nothing and $45,000 just to sit on my behind. I wish you the best of luck in your job seeking. Do not give up and just because this happened to me does'nt mean it'll happen to you, you might get a job before you even get here or as soon as you get here! Goodluck!

Finding job in Atlanta-is it hard for a fairly new nurse?
Look I just moved here in November and the only places that want to hire you are temp agencies or travel nursing. The nursing field here in Atlanta is so saturated because it's very competitive that there are thousands of people competing for the same position I too moved here because my husbands job but sometimes I wish we had stayed in Indiana. Yes, he makes good money to where I don't have to work but I love working and I want my own money and plus I didn't spend yrs. in college and $50,000 to sit on my behind. Goodluck with your job search!

Hello Everyone, I have an interview for a doctors office that only hires RN's so I was wondering what type of things would I be doing such as test that an Endocrinology and Dibetes nurse would do. Also any other helpful information would be great. I am nervous, I really want this job! I have never work in this specialty before.
