  1. Hello! Just a couple of general questions. I am moving to suburbs of Atlanta from Chicago. I have 3 years of nursing experience, 2 of which at the acute hospital. How hard is it to get a job and what is the approximate pay? Here they start new grads at 26$/hour. Thank you for replies!
  2. 26$ for new grad in hospital
  3. Hi! I just got my GA license by endorsement which took about 2,5 months. I think the process is self-explanatory. I have no idea about Nursys, so I am skipping this question. First step, I sent the application itself. I included the following papers: letters from employers from HR saying where I worked and the total number of hours, the college transcript, the consent which comes with the form, notarized signature which you get for free from your bank. No need for your marriage license unless it affects the name change. So, I sent the copies of driver's license and my green card copy. If you are US citizen, a copy of your passport if you have it. Also copy social security card. So, I mailed all these documents first. I didn't tell my manager I am moving, but just went to HR and asked them to fiil out the paper for work verification, it was no problem. Then I registered for fingerprints and got them done. Make sure to register online first before getting your blue cards fingerprints, because you need to include your registration number on your blue cards for fingerprints. They ask for 2 blue cards just in case, I did 3, but used only 1! So, it was just waste of money. My recommendation is to get just 1 blue fingerprint card, in case they can't use it if your fingerprints are bad, you'll go and get the second and save yourself 20$. So, I sent fingerprints separately a couple of weeks later when all initial documentation was processed. Another thing you need is the proof of your current license. You request it from the board of your state through their website and they have to to send to Georgia. That's it. All your steps are in this document http://sos.georgia.gov/acrobat/PLB/38 Application for Licensure by Endorsement%23.pdf And yeh, you are on hold forever and you have to listen to some kind of southern music:) But, I called everyone involved, such as GA Board of Nurses, IL Board to make sure they verified my IL license and Cogent. I called all these places couple times to make sure all my documents are in and just to bug these people because you have to!If you don't, the process will take forever! I learned it over years of applying and changing passports, citizenships, green cards, visas... what not! :) It might seem frustrating, but it's not that bad, just follow instructions and call them to make sure all papers are in. Good luck!
  4. Hello, everyone! I have big changes in my life and need to ask for a good advice! my husband got a goob job offer in Atlanta, actually not Atlanta, but Peachtree Corners. I have 1 year of Home Health Experience & 1 year of hospital experience in Rehab Unit, both in Chicago. Recently I got a job offer in Chicago at Med-Surg/Oncology floor in Chicago and starting in 1 week. So, basically I have 2 options: 1. move to Atlanta with my husband now and not start my new Med-Surg job in Chicago 2.Get a year of Med-Surg experience in Chicago and follow my husband in a year. of course, I have doubts about either choice, you know. What do you think, can I get a decent job in a hospital in Atlanta now with my current experience or will it be more valuable in a year? how hard is it to get a hospital job for somebody like me (I only have Associate Degree in Nursing). What are hospitals to look at? I will appreciate all responses! Thank you.
  5. Merrells run too wide for me. "Ecco" works the best, I own about 6-8 pairs of Ecco from sandals to winter boots, the one for hospital "Ecco Vibration II Mary Jane", fits perfectly, never get hot in them which is important.
  6. 26.5$ for a New Grad in Chicago

  11. Hello. I have to write a nursing careplan on the patient who was admitted with puss from Dialysis Fistula today. She also has history of Dibetes and ESRD. They are trying to prevent systemic infection and to stop Dialysis Fistula infection. What do you think if I write Nursing Diagnosis as following: "Risk for Systemic Infection related to Dialysis Fistula Infection" and then in "Plan" I would write: 1.Prevent Systemic Infection 2. Resolve Fistula Infection 3. Monitor DM 4. Monitor ESRD And then in "Implementation" I would list administration of antibiotics and other medicine related to each goal of the plan. What should I write in "Evaluation" then? Thank you.
  12. I was taking prereqs for 2 years (because I have a 1,10 year old at home) for Graduate Entry Programme, had all A-s, high GRE & was not accepted to any schools. Found out this week & I am still alive:) Mugwump ,don't worry, you will get what you want, it is just a matter of time. I am sure, you deserve it, maybe it is not the right job for you right now. Everything is done for the best, you might not be realizing it now, but later will.
  13. Hello! I am applying to community colleges now to get associate degree in nursing. Ultimately I would like to become a lactation consultant. Does anyone know if I need any higher degree than associate for that purpose? Thank you.
