  1. Hi! No unfortunately I am in the process of transferring my Ohio license to Illinois, I took the NCLEX on sept. 1 and had my Ohio licnese number by the 2nd. I mailed my paperwork for licensure by endorsement to the Illinois board of nursing on the 5th. I received an email late last week that they just got to my paperwork and that I should hear back soon. Im sorry to say that the Illinois board of nursing is a little slow. Hopefully I will get my IL licnese number this week and be able to apply to positions here and be taken seriously. If you have any further questions that I failed to answer in this response feel free to message me! I know it is an overwhelming process.
  2. Thank you so so much for posting this! That was so nice of ou and I'm definitely going to apply!!!! I appreciate you're looking for me :)
  3. Thank you so much for your reply! We actually found somethin affordable in lakeview. My husband will have to travel downtown so we wanted to stay close to the city :) I appreciate you letting me know what to expect with rent and hourly rate! It's been helpful!
  4. Thanks. I don't think the sarcasm was necessary, I realize that nurses get paid hourly. I just wanted a general range for yearly, which you gave me once you added up all your hourly wages. Thank you or the reference range.
  5. Hello, I will be moving to the city August 1,2011 what wage should a new nurse ( entry into practice masters degree with a bachelors in psych) expect in the city? I'm trying to figure out what is affordable rent wise and it's difficult without knowing a general salary range. Thank you for any help offered! :)
  6. I know most have said the market isn't great but can you point me toward any specific hospitals that are more likely to hire a new grad than others? I would like to be able to narrow down my focus if possible and really concentrate on the hospitals where I have a shot. Also any nursing homes, preferably ones associated with hospitals that would be good to apply to would be appreciated as well. Thank you all for the feedback! It's been great to have so many honest responses to help give me a feel for what I'm getting into.
  7. Yes it's actually a MN but they describe the program as a BSN + masters level classes making it an MN. Thank you so much for the response! I appreciate you saying something positive and giving a little hope that I will be able to find something :)
  8. Thank you all for your responses I appreciate the responses and the optimism when offered. I really would rather not work in a nursing home but I will if I have to. :) just one more question... Does level of education make a difference in the job market? I am in a program for student who already have a bachelors in a different field, so I graduate with a BSN + a few masters level classes that they call an MN ( master of nursing). I know the answer is still probably "no". But a girl can hope right!?! Thanks again for your input!
  9. Hi All, I am currently in school in Ohio and will be graduating early to mid August, my husband has been accepted to school in Chicago and we will be relocating soon after I graduate. How are the jobs looking for new graduates? Where should I look and what should I expect? I am interested in pediatrics and L&D but will obviously apply to anything if they are accepting new grads. Please help! I will be the only income and we dont have much time between my grad date and his start date. Thank you in advance for any and all advice/help.
