What are your weaknesses?

Nurses Job Hunt

How in the heck do you answer this without sounding bad?

Answer honestly, if you are a new nurse then most likely you will be more task oriented rather than focused on the big picture. But maybe follow that with a good preceptor and orientation, you'll gain it with experience.

Don't say I'm a perfectionist! I think all interviewers puke when they hear that.

When you think of something, think of a positive way you're trying to improve upon it.

I usually say that I'm too reluctant to ask for help because I'm very independent but I've learned that my coworkers are happy to help me since I'm always willing to help them.

I agree with other posters here, just answer honestly. No one in the higher ups really expect new grads like us to be up and running like seasoned nurses. Also, it depends what units you're interviewing for. I interviewed for ICU and told them that one of my weakness would be end of life talk, needless to say I think that with experience and help from my senior nurses and symposiums and CE's that involve those things, I can improve.

Short story, answer honestly but highlight how you can compensate or how you can work out your weakness.
