Which hospitals use EPIC?

  1. 1 I was wondering if there is any way to find out a list of which hospitals use certain computer charting systems?

I'm looking for CA hospitals that use EPIC in particular.

Or how do you find out which systems hospitals you've worked in the past used? (I didnt think to write them down)

You would think there would be an easier way to find out which charting system hospitals use!

Thanks if you can help me out.

There is no such list that I know of. You learn who has what by keeping up with news about implementations, having worked at a facility or via networking connections.
Some vendors have market share geographically, some by hospital size, etc.
Some multi-system, multi hospital integrated delivery networks have gone with a single vendor solution........ and to complicate matters worse, some hospitals have one vendor for their HIS, a different one for their lab systems and another for pharmacy, etc. - best of breed methodology.
Kaiser uses Epic. Check Epic's website. Vendors frequently post new installs to their websites and marketing publications.

some of the ones for sure are: kaiser and stanford in ca, sentara health care in va, bon secours in va is just starting to implement epic this year, parkland health center and children's hospital in dallas, tx, the cleveland clinic and their regional facilities and surgery centers-which is where i had my first support experience. they have one more regional that they had just acquired around sept. 09, which will be going live with epic in a year or so. cleveland clinic weston fl has gone live with all but op time, which was to be in march but just recently was postponed. ohio state university and cincinnati's children hospital are live with epic as well.

Cedars-Sinai is going live with Epic real soon.
Many hospitals in the Dallas, TX area use Epic now. I am currently a CPOE trainer and am in Dallas until May.

I am working with facilities now in Northern and Southern California that are either doing builds, implementations, or are moving towards bringing on trainers or support professionals for their Go-Lives.

Any particular "facilities"? Northern and Southern California are pretty vast regions if one is trying to pinpoint exact locations of the installation of Epic.

I know that Cedars-Sinai is going live Oct. 18. They need approximately 400 people for support. San Francisco Medical Center is in the process of building, I believe. There may be some smaller institutions in the process that I haven't heard about.

University of Florida-Shands went live last year and has been a disaster every since. Program is very busy and you have to chart multiple times. Hope other hospitals aren't having as much problems as we are..

I was at one go live that took the Epic product "right out of the box" and had nothing but trouble with a big bang implementation. So it is possible to have trouble if the facility does not put forth the effort to customize the product for their specific needs.
