Any SN's from the Philippines? Post here!

I'm on my last semester and will be graduating this March 2006.

Wahooo!!! A few more steps and my journey to the real world begins...

Hi to all,

I'm a student nurse too. second courser. I realized there's no future with business management. Btw, I am from Lanting and I will be graduating march 2006 too. I believe we are the first batch to take the new format of NLE. By topics na diba? I'm having problems with CHN. Right now I am more concern with NCLEX.. haay I don't know why. I'm all stressed out thinking bout it. A lot of people were telling me to take it one step at a time but i couldn't help myself from worrying. DO you guys have plans of going to US after grad? I have my tourist visa but I don't know if I should go there or if I should look for an employer here instead. Anyway goodluck to all of us.

hi, i am planning to enroll this october, i am a second courser, my course is management at feu, i have a computershop and i realized it's not that stable, i want to take up nursing. is that true that lanting offers a 2 yr program? with BSN degree? my friends would always say that it's not a credible school, may i know some insights from u? thanks.

Hi!! I'm also a second courser..I'm taking up nursing at Our Lady of Fatima University and I'm on my 2nd year (NCM 100).. So far, intructions are okay, especially when taught by a doctor/nurse..

i really find it confusing how schools offering a two year program are able to complete the # of rle hours required by ched. there's a school here in bacolod that offers such.. and theyre having troubles wd their prc filing. as what the prc chairman wud say, 2yrs arent enough. even if u do 24-hr duty just to complete ur requirment.. it is PHYSICALLY impossible. students wud get exhausted.

Confused and Pressured,

ALthough Lanting may not be as prestigious as other schools, the quality of education they provide is comparable to that being required in the US. DO I have to say more? Quality of education has nothing to do with the amount of tuition you pay. That's what I like about Lanting, cheaper tuition with a quality education.

As per query about 2 year for a BSN grad, I'm not sure. I took up mine for 3years. Maybe you should give them a call or visit and see if things have changed.

STOP making this thread as a hate/flame/debate thread.

Well, why? Who's making this thread a hate/flame debate thread? Are we not allowed to post our comments and observation? Would you just want us to ignore inconsistensies posted by other people? Does posting make us a hater?

Do your research before you make a comment. We're not just posting something here because we hate a certain person. I studied all her posts that's why I made such remark.

It's not really about her saying she's from UP and I am not. It's about belittling a prestigious school when you can't even provide proof of it's poor performance and then promoting websites and debating with others as if she-knows-it-all.

The bottom line is... maybe she was just making up whatever she's saying to promote something or whatever. Or, I hope not, but she sounds like she's just lying.

We're grown up people, so don't tell us what to do and what not to do. Coz we absolutely know what we're doing. And although this thread maybe for students, it doesn't necessarily mean that graduates can't post here.

i do believe that you are trying to refer that problem to my school, The two year-nursing programs are not for UNDERGRAUATES student, they are intended for the SECOND DEGREE students, meaning students who graduated from their previous courses or masterals degree or even doctors and others... It is only two years because, all of the subjects of frist year and some second year are accredited, sincemost of the subjects of the regular first year and second year are acredited therefore, we only need to take the 3rd year and fourth year nursing subjects which are the major subjects of nursing courses and some modules... So we can still complete the RLE...

Regarding the PRC, it's another topic to deal with...

thanks

and actually it is not a two year programs, we are almost 3 years here, and we are bout to graduate on the end of the semester, and if you happen to wonder why some students, can finish with in a year or 2, because they are an ALLIED STUDENTS, meaning they were doctors,PT,MIDWIVES,etc...

hope it is clear to you, this program are intentionally for us, SECOND DEGREE, people who had our first degree already... And i do believe as well that, every students has a lesser knowledge unless they are expose to the real settings of what you called hospital, you will know someday that OH, I HAVE NOT LEARNT ENOUGH FROM MY SCHOOL. I HAVE SO MUCH, TO LEARN...

Another thing is that, that school you ar trying to refer to, has no problem technically with the RLE, it is all about the OVERLOADING of the subjects of the second degree coursers who belongs to the WORKING groups, working groups are those people, made money during day time and study during night time or students who just want to have a night time classes and weekend classes... The overloading was all bout the subjects that it should only be 30 UNITS or less... according to the PRC, but witht he proper communication of the ex-member of the PNA, which is the dean of that school you are trying to refer to with the CHED, they made another programs that is only for second degree that, they will be allowed to have an overload provided however it is only for those who are taking up modules (subjects that no need of class, just to pass paper works, either they had it from the previous degree but hasa lesser units than the required units in nursing for 2 year program) on those subjects like PHYSICS,CHMEISTRY,VALUES EDUACTION and others...

BUT THE PRC ILOILO, does not HONOR the CHED's decision...according to the PRC, it is impossbile for a students to have an RLE and a class in 24 hours, which is true, but that subjects are moduled subjects, meaning paper works no classess...

And the issue regarding PRC ILOILO, has some personal agenda regarding the SCHOOL dean and the PRC chairwoman...

Regarding PRC manila, they were just affected by that PESO budget of the congress to be alloted to them, which in fact tha congress di not GAVE them any peso budget... Unproffesionalism is in PRC since then...

Approving students to take the exam, then on the day of the EXAMINATION pull them out? Well, so unusual...

This will be another topic regarding PRC and the school that you are trying to point, which i am enrolled right now... He he he and i am bout to finish my course and all i can say, I HAVE LEARNT so much, and i could say i will be a best nurse... AS what other people not expecting on US...

Good day!

This is my first post, i'm a BSN III Student. Our ncm class for the sem is prom-prev ncm, but i noticed that our school concentrates on Maternal and Child Nursing Topics... We're using a manual, but i think it lacks relevant info, can anyone recommend a good MCN book? One more thing, can i ask anyone for help on how to write a good charting? (traditional and SOAPIE) Our lecture in ncm100 lacks some substance, and i cant find a good reference... Thanks a lot!

hi pharm_bsn, we had our lesson about charting on our primary health care nursing 100, on our first semester when i was in second year. actually, our phc teacher may have been the same with yours too, she did not elaborate much on charting and she did not give us reference books from where we could find more examples of charting, she just gave us the examples, both on the narrative and the soapie. we just learned to make our chartings better from experiences on the ward.., it was really funny coz during our preclinical exposure...we were asked to make a sample charting on our ward notebooks..our chartings were full of red ink...from our clinical instructor's corrections...so in the process we learned to make them better, but that doesnt mean im telling you that you should just let it be...why dont you ask your clinical instructors themselves if they could show you which books are good when it comes to charting...or well like this you could ask the many great brains here...im sure later you will be flooded with suggestions...

peace out! rock on!

Try to have Basic Maternity Nursing by Persis Mary Hamilton... clear and easy to comprehend.... and of course the one we are using in our school--> Maternal & Child Health Nursing by Adele Pillitteri 5th ed. 2 volumes, kapal nito kakatamad basahin pero worthy naman ang allotted time for reading.
