Good Nursing School in the Philippines

Hi!

I would appreciate if some of you can give me some recommendations as to what school I should consider. I'm a college grad (business) and would like to take up Nursing as a second course. I would prefer a school which would take me less than 4 years.

My friend in the US recommended Carlos Lanting school because she knows a few people who graduated from this school and are now practicing in the US. Is this a good school?

Would appreciate any advice.

thanks for the reply guys... i just want to share with you... my boyfriend is in the US ryt now with his family, he is already american citizen... so he told me that if i'll become a nurse, he will help me to find job in U.S.. i agree to both of you guys..tnx for your opinion...

Your boyfriend can't get you a visa, unless you get married.

Several factors, US is in retrogression, there is a long wait to get a visa to the USA.

Changes of passing the NCLEX is reduced when you are a foreign grad.

Last, US jobs are becoming hard to find with the economy in bad shape.

My advice, enter nursing if you plan to practice in your home country, do not count on the US to be you career path.

i graduated from Dr.Carlos S. Lanting College and i am proud to be a product of that school. It is not a perfect school but i can assure you that they have quality education and you will get real value for your money. Unlike other schools, our school will not rip you off. They do not charge their students unnecessary fees. This school always have a spot in the top ten NLE every year if not every test date. Good luck to all.

It's good you passed your first course in biology. You will be one step ahead of the non-science majors. Take a look at the schools listed here. They all offer the similar package of finishing your program in an accelerated format.

I'm bias toward PWU since I am a product of that university. They treat 2nd coursers as professionals, so you feel a stronger connection to the faculty. You don't feel like a student drone. The PWU nursing program is time tested and is over 60 years old. I had no problem with my 2nd course BSN being accepted by the California board of nursing to sit for the NCLEX.

It's good your boyfriend is a US citizen. If your relationship progresses towards marriage, he can apply for a fiancée visa for you and you can marry in the USA between 6 months to 1 year. A spouse visa actually takes 2-3 years if you were to be married in the Philippines. As for nursing jobs, just look at online job posts like yahoo jobs or monster jobs and you will see the availability of open slots in a given area. While I couldn't find an open new graduate position in the San Francisco area I had no problem locating one in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. So available jobs will depend on the area you want to live in.

Sorry, but the fiancee visa actually requires that one marry within 90 days of entry into the US. You do not get the 6 months to a year. One also does not get their interview again in the US until the marriage is done and the certificate can be produced.

Also a reason why the green card given thru the fiancee visa is only two years as well and not the normal five years.
